That's for me to decide. Ernie thought defiantly as he lurched forward. "That's vague." He muttered.
-
Hendrik glared. Callisto just smiled. ‘Let’s go!’ she said, turning around. As the couple turned around, Ernest was forced to follow them.
-
Ernest didn't like this side of magic. Not matter how hard he tried to run off or even just stop moving, he couldn't. He just glared at the two of them.
-
The couple seemed completely unaffected by his expression. They just walked like they were a big, happy family.
The group eventually got to the cottage - Mahina’s house. ‘We’re here,’ Hendrik said, knocking on the door. -
"No." Ernie muttered, remembering how much Mahina told him her roommate hated humans, and how much trouble Mahina'd probably be in "Please no. Let me go, please." He begged. He knew it'd probably make them think he was guilty and continue, but if there was even a sliver of a chance he could leave, he'd try and take it.
-
Hendrik shook his head. ‘You won’t remember anything when you leave, kid. You’ll forget all about this account.’
Selene opened the door. Her stared at Hendrik, then Ernest. ‘Is that..’ she faltered. -
Ernie's eyes widened. "I'll what?!" He snapped, trying to break out of the spell again. It didn't work, and just zapped his energy. "You said you wouldn't do anything too bad to me."
Once Selene saw him he grimaced, trying to break out one last time. -
Hendrik shook his head. Ernest was forced to walk inside, followed by Callisto and his husband.
‘Mahina!’ Selene called into their room. ‘Come here, please…’ -
Ernie winced. I'm sorry, Mahina. He thought to himself, looking at all of them nervously. "If I tell you guys what happened, can I get out of here with my memories?" He asked hopefully.
-
Hendrik shook his head. ‘Trust me, you’ll be better if without them.’
Mahina walked into the kitchen. Her eyes widened. She gaze shifted from Callisto, to Hendrik, to Ernest, then Selene. ‘What’s going on?’ she demanded.
‘Your parents are just figuring out what happened between you and this boy,’ Selene said, gesturing to Ernest. -
Ernest glared at Hendrik "That's for me to decide." He said before Mahina walked in. Once she did he looked at her with a look that meant: What lie/half truth are we going with?
-
Mahina’s breath caught. ‘Are-Are you going to take his memories?’
Hendrik nodded. ‘It will be easier for all of us,’ he said.
Mahina stared at her father, before jumping forward and wrapping her arms around Ernest’s neck, burying her face in his shoulder. ‘No! You can’t!’ -
Ernie's eyes widened. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her. Ooookay, we're going with the truth.
"I'm so sorry that I got caught." Ernest whispered to her. He looked up and saw all the shocked faces. -
Selene stared at the two. ‘Mahina, what-‘
‘Mahina,’ Hendrik growled. ‘Get away from the human.’
Mahina shook her head, and if anything pulled herself closer to him. -
Ernest held her close, trying to calm his over-anxious mind down. He looked at Mahina. "Hey, uhm, in case my brain gets wiped and you get in huge trouble, I need you to know this, alright?" He asked quietly before mumbling in her ear. "I love you.."
