Mahina blushed. She buried her face in his shirt. ‘You can’t do this,’ she said, voice shaking, turning her gaze to Hendrik. ‘Please.’
-
Ernie didn't say anything, knowing he was most definitely testing Hendrik's luck, so he just looked around nervously. "Please?" He asked after a bit, voice barely above a whisper.
-
Hendrik’s hand tightened around his wand. Callisto put a hand on his shoulder. ‘Explain. Now.’
-
Ernest's eyes widened. "Do you want to tell them the part that we're together?" He asked Mahina quietly, praying to the gods and the devils alike that nobody other than her heard him say that.
-
Selene heard it. She rubbed the bridge of her nose in exasperation.
‘Mahina, seriously?’ she said.
Mahina blushed. -
Ernie grimaced. "We met a couple days ago." Ernest started off. "And we... We like each other." He said, blushing. "And then, we went to my old village, and we found a witch burning about to happen. So, we saved the witch, and that's why we're both wanted in that village." He looked at Mahina. "Did I gloss over anything important?"
-
Mahina’s face was still buried in his shirt, but she shook her head.
‘So that’s why you’ve been so eager to go to the village?’ Selene exclaimed. ‘I leave you alone for four days, and this is what happens?!’
‘You left her alone?!’ Callisto demanded. -
Ernie watched the arguments and blame games continue. "At least they're not talking about wiping away my memories." He pointed out quietly, wanting to keep it that way.
-
‘If you forget me, Frog Boy, I swear to god…’ Mahina mumbled, trying to hide her fear.
‘Why would you do that?!’ Callisto exclaimed. ‘You know how that girl is!’
Selene rubbed her forehead. ‘Mahina can take care of herself. What I’m surprised is her being so obsessed with some boy - a human boy! Since I came back, she’s barely been in the house!’ -
"I'd never even dream of it." Ernest murmured. He hated how the adults were talking like the two of them weren't even in the room. He looked back at Hendrik before immediately looking away, not wanting to die or get his memories erased.
-
‘Do you know how hard it was to get you to kiss me? I’m not doing that again!’ Mahina huffed, trying to lift both their spirits.
Hendrik made a growling sound. ‘If we erase his memories, and maybe Mahina’s too, everything will go back to normal.’
Selene looked horrified. ‘You’d do that to your own daughter?!’
‘I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe!’ -
Ernie chuckled. "I doubt it was that hard..." He said before looking up at Hendrik. If he tried to erase Mahina's memories, Ernest swore to god... He held her closer.
-
Mahina felt herself press closer to Ernest. She couldn’t help but blush, despite the conversation behind them.
‘That’s vile!’ Selene argued. -
"It's necessary!" Hendrick argued. Ernie frowned, raising his hand like a kid in class waiting for his turn to be called on.
"How, exactly, is it necessary?" Ernie asked. "I mean, she'd still be banned from that village, she just wouldn't know why." He looked at Hendrick and immediately wished he hadn't opened his mouth based on his glare. -
Hendrick looked like he was going to punch Ernest in the face. He probably would’ve if Mahina wasn’t in the way.
‘Forgetting you, is what I meant.’
