Ernest sighed. "Naida kissed me." He mumbled, half hoping she didn't hear.

Mahina’s eyes widened. ‘What?’

"Last night. She kissed me." Ernie said quietly. He couldn't help feeling guilty, like it was his fault.

Mahina felt like punching that stupid witch-human. ‘What did you do?’

"Pulled away." Ernest looked down at the ground.

‘Like, immediately, or after a few seconds?’

"After like, one second." Ernie mumbled.

Mahina followed his gaze to the ground. ‘Well, that’s not too bad,’ she said quietly.

"I'm sorry." Ernest frowned.

‘For what? Not your fault Naida’s a creep.’

"I know. I'm still sorry."

‘Why?’

Ernest kicked a bit of dirt. "I... I feel like it's my fault." He said, quieter than a whisper.
