Jayden sighed. "I'm sorry I'm such a mess today." He murmured.
-
‘That’s okay, darling,’ he said softly, sitting his boyfriend on the bed. ‘I get why. I’m like that too, sometimes.’ He locked the door before sitting behind him, wrapping his arms around his waist and pressing their bodies together. ‘Do you want to start or should I?’
-
"But when you're a mess it's cute." Jayd mumbled, blushing slightly. When I'm a mess I'm a nervous, overwhelmed wreck jumping to conclusions for no reason. "You can start first, if you'd like."
-
Chester laughed softly, kissing his neck. ‘It is definitely not cute, love,’ he said. ‘Do you want me to explain what exactly happened?’
-
"It is too." Jayden mumbled before taking a shaky breath and nodding. "Yes please."
-
‘Ok,’ Chester said, gently kissing his cheek. ‘So, I was peeking through the keyhole, trying to eavesdrop on you and Caden - sorry about that, by the way - and Beatrice tapped on my shoulder and I asked what she wanted and she kind of just got really close to me…’ he rambled, speaking quickly but slow enough so Jayden could make sense of his explanation. ‘Like the little creep she is, she told me Astrid is boring and that I’m much better, which is understandable but it’s her fault for being a little brat, and she kissed me but I pushed her away.’
-
Jayd listened intently. "Obviously you're better than Astrid." He muttered. He leaned further into Chester. "I'm sorry that happened." He wanted to ask how much Chester heard from the meeting, but didn't ask, figuring it wasn't the right time.
-
‘It’s not your fault, love. I just hate confronting people from my past, I guess, which is why I wasn’t so assertive with her, which is a fault on my side. Honestly, I kind of feel sorry for your brother,’ Chester said, nuzzling into his neck.
-
"I don't care. You shouldn't have to deal with that." Jayden mumbled. "I feel kinda bad for him, too."
-
Chester kissed his cheek, pulling him closer. ‘It’s okay, love. I just hate that you have to deal with your boyfriend’s psychotic ex,’ he said softly, smiling weakly. ‘I’m fine, sweetheart. But are you?’
-
Jayden shrugged. "You're the one dealing with her, not me. And I'm fine." The last bit was a lie. A big lie.
-
Chester shook his head. ‘You have to deal with the consequences. And I don’t believe you for a second, Jayden. I know you, and I love you. I wouldn’t be fine either.’
-
Jayd sighed. "You know me too well." He muttered. He paused for a bit. "Are you... I mean... Are you over Beatrice?" His voice sounded small, and laced with fear of the answer.
-
Chester smiled softly, but his smiled faded at the second sentence. He gently caressed Jayden’s cheek, speaking softly in his ear. ‘Jayden, I love you so, so much. I broke up with Beatrice over a year ago. You’re better to me than she ever was, and I was too naive to see it. Even I can tell how toxic and manipulative she is. I’m way over her, my love.’
-
Jayden smiled weakly, leaning into Chester more and wrapping his arms around him. "Ok." He murmured.
