“I hardly use it.” Jayden shrugged. “Just a thought.”

Chester shook his head. ‘I don’t want to ruin your coat,’ he said.

“But I’m offering. It doesn’t look super comfortable with your wings like that, and I don’t use it anyways. Besides, I got 2 other coats, I don’t need this one too.”

Chester shook his head. ‘It’s more practical, anyway. We don’t need all your townspeople gawking at me.’

Jayden chuckled. “If you say so.” He got to the door to the village, where one of his coats was hanging on the coat hanger. He grabbed it, put it on, slipped his hand in Chester’s, and opened the door.

Chester smiled and intertwined their fingers, and followed him out.

Thankfully it wasn’t that crowded in the village, and Jayden didn’t see any reporters yet. He walked towards the post office.

Chester looked around, taking in the streets. It wasn’t so different to his own kingdom, except the townsfolk didn’t seem too taken aback by them. ‘Do you come out often?’

Jayden shrugged. “Not much, just if I have to meet someone here for a meeting or something. Or I need to get away from Astrid and Caden, but then I’d have to risk the reporters…”

Chester nodded, looking around. ‘Interesting.’ His eyes fell on a woman, maybe just a bit older than them, who glared and ushered her kids away.
‘Your citizens are friendly.’ -
Jayden winced, noticing her too. “Sorry…” He knew it wasn’t his fault, but he still felt bad about that being Chester’s first view of his kingdom.

Chester watched her walk away, before turning his gaze to Jayden. ‘Not your fault. It’s just strange.’

“Agreed.” Jayden gave a small nod, walking to the post office. He tried not to notice the stares from the townspeople.

Chester narrowed his eyes at a couple civilians and wrapped an arm protectively around Jayden. ‘Why are they looking at us like that?’

Jayd looked up at him when he wrapped his arm around him. “Dunno.” He said quietly. It wasn’t fully a lie… just not 100% the truth.
