“I’m keeping this promise, Chester.” -
Chester took a shaky breath. ‘You said it yourself. We can’t control this.’

“I can’t control if you go to jail or not, but I can control if I stay with you.” Jayd looked Chester in the eyes. “You’re not losing me.”

‘Jayden, if I go to jail, I’ll be in there at least 2 years,’ Chester said, avoiding his gaze. ‘I’d only be able to see you once a month. Twice, if I’m lucky. If I go to jail, I won’t be allowed back on the throne.’

“That doesn’t mean I’m going to break up with you.” Jayden said softly. “And Maeve would run the kingdom. I’d help her, love. Make sure she doesn’t end up boring.”

‘She’s 15! That’s way too much for a teenager!’ Chester exclaimed, looking at him. ‘And you have your own kingdom to run. 2 years, Jayden.’

“Which is why I’ll help her! Besides, my board of directors ruled the kingdom more than I do anyways.” He hated the fact that his second sentence wasn’t much of an exaggeration. “We’ll figure it out, ok?”

Chester sighed, holding him close. ‘F-Fine. But… Jayden, we can’t let that happen,’ he looked up at him with pleading eyes. ‘I’ll be ruined. Maeve’ll hate it. I’ll be a disgrace to my family.’ Maybe he was panicking, but his grandparents could be real pieces of work.

Jayden nodded. “It’s the last resort.” He agreed before pausing. “Why would Maeve hate you? She knows it was an accident…”

Chester looked away, clenching his jaw.

Jayd’s eyebrows knit together. “She does know, right?”

Chester buried his head in his shirt, not responding.

Jayden holds Chester’s head in his hands. “Oh, Chester…” He murmured.

Chester started crying, holding onto Jayden tightly.

Jayd held Chester close, not sure what to do other than hold him.
