“Well, let’s just say him and Chester aren’t exactly close friends.” Jayden kept it at that. “Next?”

A man close to the back spoke up. ‘Chester Jackson, do you always carry weapons around?’
Chester looked down at the sheathed dagger at his belt. ‘Er, no, not always.’ -
“It was for self defense. In case we got mugged…, which I suppose we almost did…” He leaned into Chester.

Chester started fidgeting with his hands. ‘Jayden, what time does the post office close?’ he murmured.
‘If it was for self defence, why don’t you have any guards with you?’ a journalist piped up. -
Jayden check his watch. “Fifteen minutes.” He looked up at the journalist. “Because we didn’t think we needed them. We thought we could handle ourselves.”

Chester sighed.
The reporter jotted that down. ‘And could you?’ -
“No.” Jayden admit. “But not for lack of trying.” He paused. “Alright, me and Chester have some errands to run, to may you all get out of here?”

Some of the reporters groaned and began to walk away, but a couple stayed.
‘Chester, may I ask you a question regarding your mental health?’ one asked.
‘No, you may not,’ Chester responded bluntly. ‘Come on, love.’ -
Jayden nodded, walking forward again. “You sure you’re ok? The way he grabbed your arm, it looked like it hurt a lot.”

Chester grabbed Jayden’s hand with his good arm. ‘I’m fine, love. It just hurts a bit. He might’ve just strained a couple muscles.’

Jayd nodded. “Makes sense. Sorry you had to experience this.”

Chester smiled softly. ‘It’s fine, love. It’s not your fault some people in this kingdom are weirdly aggressive,’ he said, kissing the top of his head. ‘Humans are strange.’

Jayden nodded. They got to the post office.

Chester looked up.

Jayd didn’t notice him do so until later. He opened the door for him before looking up as well.
