Chester frowned, sitting up to look him in the eyes. ‘Jayden,’ he said softly. ‘I’ll ask again. What has he done to you?’

Jayd sighed. “If I don’t answer, are you going to get all anxious and distrustful over it?”

Chester thought for a moment before he shrugged. ‘Please just tell me,’ he said quietly, cupping his cheek in his hand.

Jayden didn’t answer for a moment, leaning into Chester’s hand. “You know how you get really bad breakdowns around him?”

Chester nodded. ‘Yeah?’

“Well, he’d give me breakdowns like that sometimes. Only I was littler than you are now. And he was king.” Jayden said it like if he said it quickly, it’d leave his mind as quick as it left his mouth.

Chester let out a small growl. He morphed into his half-phoenix form, and held him close. ‘That’s so messed up,’ he muttered.

Jayden shrugged. “I suppose.” He said quietly. “But this isn’t about me, love.”

Chester glared. ‘Well, it is now,’ he snapped, standing up and walking over to Jayden’s desk, unintentionally aiming his anger at Jayden. ‘Where do you keep your paper?’ he said, grabbing a quill and dipping it in the pot of ink on the desk.

Jayd backed up from him slightly in shock that he snapped at him before staring at his finger. “Depends. What are you gonna do?”

‘It doesn’t matter,’ he said, looking in the drawer for paper.

Jayden frowned. “Oh, yes it does.” He stood up and walked next to Chester. “What are you going to do?”

‘Again, it doesn’t matter,’ Chester said, opening another drawer and finding a pile of parchment. He grabbed a few pieces.

Jayd grabbed Chester’s hand. “Tell me. Now.”

Chester glanced up at him, a little surprised by the firmness in his voice. ‘I’m just going to write a little letter to the press,’ he said, squeezing his hand. ‘The public deserve to know what kind of prince they have.’
