"Which I'm STILL not forgiving you for doing!" Maeve said in between teleporting. "You're starving me!"
-
'It's only dessert,' Chester said. 'It's good you're not getting so much unhealthy food.'
-
"But you know the desert is the best part!" Maeve protested.
"She's got a point." Jayd said, half saying it because he believed it and half to annoy Chester. -
Chester rolled his eyes. 'Oh, don't you start,' he said to Jayden. 'I've got enough disobedience from this kid as it is,' he added, gesturing to Maeve with his gloved hand.
-
"Hey! I'm a great kid!" Maeve protested.
"Sounds like Chester could use a little excitement to wear off the obedience in him." Jayd suggested. -
Maeve scoffed. 'Like that'll ever happen,' she said sarcastically.
'Hey!' Chester exclaimed. He never usually got offended by this, and even now he wasn't really because he was used to snide comments like this. Maeve rolled her eyes and finished her food, then rang a bell that was on the table and disappeared. -
"Come on, don't you want to do something exciting?" Jayden said with a smile. "Plus maaaybe it'd help you and Maeve get along." He didn't know whether or not that would persuade Chester, but he really hoped it would since the two of them both seemed so cool.
-
'She'll grow out of her recklessness,' Chester said. 'Eventually.'
The lanky sous chef came out and collected Maeve's plate, then stumbled a bit and left. -
"Not if I stay here." Jayden said with a chuckle before looking at the sous chef. "Think he's alright?" He asked, pointing to the chef as he left with Maeve's plate.
-
'He's fine. Why do you ask?' Chester asked, turning his gaze from the sous chef to Jayden.
-
"He was stumbling a bit." Jayd said with a shrug. "But maybe I'm just seeing things or there's some dumb explanation."
-
'He's a gargoyle,' Chester said. 'Gargoyles can transform to humans. This one just happens to like his creature form better.'
-
"Oh, cool." Jayden said with a small smile.
-
Chester let a small smile tug on the corners of his mouth, then looked up when the doors opened again and Patton came out holding two dishes. 'Sandwhiches for King Celeste,' he said, standing on his tiptoes and putting one plate in front of Jayden. His large chef hat nearly whacked the human in the face. 'And deer stew for His Majesty.'
'Thank you Patton,' Chester said, grabbing some cutlery from the middle of the table. -
"Thank you." Jayd repeated, and once Patton left he chuckled. "'Your majesty'. I'll never get used to hearing that." He said, waiting for his meal to cool down.
