Jayden held him close.

Chester sniffled, burying his face in Jayden’s shirt.

Jayden kissed the top of his head.

Chester leaned into his touch.

Jayden smiled softly.

‘Who was at the gate?’

"Benji."

Chester looked up at him. ‘Oh.’

"Yeah."

‘Did he say anything else?’

"He wants to get back with me." Jayden snorted, trying to bring the mood up by acting like it was ridiculous. It was ridiculous, after all.

Chester’s hold on him tightened slightly. ‘What an ass.’

"I know." Jayden chuckled. He decided not to add the parts about how Chester didn't really love him.

Chester played with his hair, resting his head back on his shoulder. ‘You should have some breakfast.’

Jayden took a small bite, not having much of an appetite.
