Jayd smiled. "How are you?"

'Good. How are you two? Any nightmares?'

Jayden looked at Chester, silently asking which one of them was going to tell him.

Chester pursed his lips. 'Uh, yeah..'
Oliver pulled out his pen and paper. 'What about?' -
Jayden squeezed his hand gently, waiting for him to answer.

Chester sighed. 'Just... stuff.'
'What kind of stuff?'
'Mainly my parents. Being mad at me,' Chester said quietly. 'Memories from when I was younger. And pretty much every jerk I've come across.' -
"Did they do anything to you?" Oliver asked, scribbling in his notepad.

'Not to me, specifically, but they hurt you. And Jayden and Maeve.'

Oliver frowned slightly, writing that down as well.
Jayden leaned into Chester. "Which won't happen." He promised him. -
Chester looked away, fidgeting with his pocket watch.

Jayden frowned, holding his hand that was fidgeting with the watch. "It won't happen." He said quietly.

‘You don’t know that.’

"Hey, what did I tell you earlier?" Jayden pulled him closer. "We'll be fine. We've got a hell of a good lookout to protect us."

Chester buried his face in Jayden’s hair, trying not to cry, especially in front of Oliver.

Jayden frowned, pulling him closer gently.
