"Sorry, this is awkward." Jayden said after a bit. "I'll leave you alone." He stood up, not wanting to stay in the conversation for much longer in case he said something super embarrassing.

'It's fine,' Chester said, fiddling with the finger of his glove.

Jayden shook his head. "No, that was embarrassing. Uh... See you at lunch, unless we have a meeting?" He said, talking a few steps back.

'Yeah, I'll see you then,' Chester said, avoiding his gaze.

"Alright." Jayd turned around and walked out of the library, mad at himself for making it all so awkward.

Chester sat like that for a moment, fiddling and staring at the ground.

Maeve appeared right next to Jayden again. "What's wrong?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Nothing." Jayd said quickly. "Nothings wrong." -
'Riiiight,' Maeve said. 'And my uncle's a monkey. Spill it!'

"Nothing of any importance to you." Jayden said with a dry chuckle.

'Pfft. There isn't much that goes on in the castle anymore. Any gossip is fine, so what is it?'

Jayd sighed, knowing he wasn't going to be able to get out of the conversation without telling her. "Fine, but you have to promise not to tell anyone." He said, looking for an empty room so nobody could hear.

Maeve's face lit up. 'Secrets! Alright, I promise! Tell me!'

Jayden grabbed her arm and dragged her into an empty room. He sighed. "I think I like your brother." He said in a hushed voice.

Maeve lips curled into a goofy grin. 'As in, you like-like him?' she giggled.

Jayd nodded, rolling his eyes at her. "Yes like-like him."
