Chester curled up on the bed.

"We need to talk about your... Overprotectiveness towards Mister Jackson."
Jayd frowned. "What about it?" -
Chester snuggled up in Jayden’s blankets.

"It's not healthy. I mean, you've known this man for what, a month and a half? You've thrown away everything for him!"
Jayden frowned. "What, exactly, have I thrown away?" -
‘Your dignity! Your reputation!’ Caden exclaimed.

"My dignity is well intact. And as for my reputation, I am in a relationship with a king! If anything, my reputation has improved!" Jayden glared.

Caden scowled. ‘For a majority of the kingdom, your reputation has not increased. Those reporters saw you purchase fireworks!’

"Well, our kingdoms certainly gotten more attention, has it not? All press is good press right? Besides, I've done way worse things than buy fireworks. What do they think I'm going to do, blow up a shop with them?"

Caden looked stunned into silence for a moment. ‘Jayden, are you serious? If you don’t pull yourself together, you’ll be kicked off the throne by your own citizens just like Astrid!’
Chester, out of curiosity, morphed into a mouse. He scurried under the crack between the door and the floor and into the meeting room, hiding under Jayden’s seat -
"So what do you want me to do then, if you're so wise?" The sarcasm was obvious in Jayden's tone. "How, exactly, do you want me to save my reputation?"

Caden glared. ‘Break up with him.’

Jayden glared. "Other than that." He snapped.

‘Go to war with him.’ Chester squeaked in surprise.

"How, exactly, would that spare my reputation? I'd lose respect from both of our kingdoms, and for what? Some more land? Money?" There was fury in his eyes. "Your greed is showing, Caden. You might want to tuck it back in."

Caden scowled. ‘Don’t you dare talk to me like that. It’s either that, you insolent little s---, or I do it myself.’
