Collins tapped her index fingers on her knees which we still cuddled to her chest, thinking. 'Unless there's some kind of surveillance, I don't think he'll ever know,' she stated. She looked around for a camera as if expecting one to be there, then turned back to the computer and started looking for some documents of interest.
-
"I could eat any cameras." Florence said. He mimicked the sound of crunching metal. The computer had a large doc labeled experiment logs and a different doc called experiment list
-
'What would they taste like?' Collins said, partially joking but also very curious. She continued browsing the files.
-
"they taste like electricity with glass." Florence said. He mimicked the sound of glass shattering. Most of obsidian's files were a maze except for the afforementioned files. One was numbered standardly but the experiment list was full of names. 2 notable ones being Marco and Xavier
-
Collins clicked on the experiment list and a bunch of document names came up. She browsed through the alphabetically-orders list and noticed Marco, then as she scrolled down the name Xavier. She glanced at Florence, then back at the screen.
-
Florence was chewing on a hardback covered book
-
Collins clicked on the file named Xavier. She wasn't sure what Florence would do if she said the same aloud again.
-
The entry in the computer went as follows
"The child A-173 Xavier is reaching the optimal age for experimentation. If he really wants to fly he must agree. Even if he doesn't live he will serve a greater purpose. The human animal genome mixture experiment is almost perfected. Once stupid, stubborn Nori agrees to let me do the experiment we will finally have the perfect mutant. Half human, half bird. The mimickry skills of ever bird even enhanced with human understanding. Strength and speed no human could imagine having. Impervious to electricity and practically immortal like the other mutants along with the ability to fly. Finally most importantly the experiment will have a consciousness. Something no other mutant yet has obtained.
Status report. Experiment: succeeded. Subject A-173: deceased."
Florence kept chewing on things in the room. Ignorant of everything on the computer. -
Collins stared at the last word, seeming to process it. Deceased. They'd killed a kid. She wondered how old Xavier had been when the experiment took place. She looked at Florence, tapping her thumbs anxiously on her knees.
-
Florence looked over as he ate some old moldy book on the shelf. He mimicked the sound the computer made
-
Collins clenched her jaw, glancing back at the computer tensely.
-
Florence cocked his head at Collins and crawled closer. "What's wrong?" He asked before mimicking a bird that flew by the window.
-
'The file,' Collins said quietly. She swallowed then glanced back at Florence. 'You're Xavier. I guess. Something like that.' She tried to think of another way of putting it.
-
"No, my name is Florence." Florence said. Hearing the name Xavier made his feathers stand on edge again. He mimicked Collins' sneeze once again.
-
Collins gave a small but weak smile. 'I mean, you're part of him. He was used in the creation of... well, you. At least, according to this file.'
