Florence unfolded his wings and tugged with all his might to finally open the door. He took a deep breath and sat down after such a large effort

Collins looked back at Florence and crouched down next to him. 'You good?'

"tired." Florence said. It was a lot of effort for him despite his monstrous strength. He mimicked more of the screams he'd heard before opening the heart to calm down.

Collins nodded, sitting down and leaning against the wall. She glanced at the music box as the pretty lullaby played.

Florence relaxed his aching arms and set the music box on his lap. He mimicked the way the creator would hum the tune in his deep echoing voice.

Echo looked to Florence, interest sparking in her brown eyes, then at the collapsed stairs. 'Do you know why the heart is so special to you?' she asked Florence.

"the creator.. he told me it made me.. special." Florence said. "It was.. the only thing.. no other experiment had." He mimicked the humming of his dear creator as the music continued.

Collins looked down at the heart. 'So, sentimental value,' she muttered, mainly to herself. 'Did he call you an... experiment?'

"yes. I am.. an experiment.. after all." Florence said before continuing to mimick the humming

'I guess...' Collins said. 'But you do have emotions, thoughts and the ability to think for yourself. You're more human than any experiment.'

"but I'm not... human. I am.. inorganic." Florence said. He watched the heart's mechanisms turn and chime. It was truly a work of art

'Do you want to be?'

"there are ways that being a human... could be better." Florence said. It was almost his first full sentence without any breaking. "I could search for the creator... and avoid experimentation." He reached up his lower set of arms to look at his hands.

'Experimentation?' she repeated, frowning.

"Yes. It starts with a concept... then comes the execution." Florence said lifting his shirt a bit to show a terrifying bubbled up scar. "Many times the experiments would be... lethal on actual humans. They use us... as a test." Florence said touching the old scar
