‘No, of course not! I love purple,’ Collins said, looking up at Florence. ‘I just got a bit emotional,’ she said with a short chuckle.

Florence smiled back at Collins and Mimicked her laugh. He lifted his wings and flared then out.

Collins smiled. She lay back down on the grass, enjoying the summer heat.

Florence started mimicking old songs he used to hear from the hallways of the lab.

Collins listened to him absentmindedly, focusing up on the clouds.

Florence started playing the song funky town while peacefully eating henbits

Collins smiled, looking up at a cloud that kind of looked like a ferret. She adjusted the flower crown on her head.

Florence picked a white clover and put it in the heart. He started to play an old video game song.

Collins looked at him. 'Can I ask you something?' she asked/

"what is it?" Florence responded, tilting his ears forward. He mimicked the buzzing of an AC unit.

'Do you ever get tired of everything? Tired of waiting around for the creator, being an outcast... things like that?' Collins asked, rolling onto her side to look at him.

"well... Sometimes. It's hard to be the only Florence, and.... I really hate sitting in the lab all alone most of the time. I try not to think about how sad I am, instead I think of how happy I'll be when the creator returns." Florence said. His ears dropped

Collins' expression softened. She rested her head on her arm. 'How do you remain so optimistic, though? How do you never give up on the future?' she asked quietly.

"well, I know that the assistant researcher is around a lot less, and recently I'm not so lonely anymore. You help me to have hope Collins." Florence said. He flapped his wings and gave Collins a big toothy grin.

Collins watched him for a moment. She cracked a small smile and looked up at the clouds. ‘You’re my first real friend,’ she said.
