Eli raised their eyebrows. “Me? Why me? Am I that big of a freak?”

“What, do you not have friends here?” Eli asked, feeling sympathetic for Callum. They knew what it felt like to feel alone and sad. -
'No, it's just me.'

“Not anymore.” Eli offered, smiling gently. “How long have you been stuck here?”

'A few years.'

“All on your own? How have you… survived?” Eli didn’t just mean how’d Callum survive without a friend, also how they managed to live without someone to take care of him, considering Eli couldn’t even imagine how’d they manage without their mom.

'There's a farm with a bunch of food, if that's what you mean. And I haven't been entirely alone, there are cats here.'

Eli shook his head. “I’m so sorry you had to stay here alone for so long.” They said. “I mean, I bet it’d be nice from time to time, but for the most part, it just sounds…. Really lonely. Where were your parents? Your friends? Anyone?”

'It's just me,' Callum repeated, not really answering the question. 'Ah, we're here!'

Eli looked at Callum, knowing perfectly well they were avoiding the question, but didn’t push it. It was after all, really personal stuff.
