Callum laughed. 'And some people are born to draw pirate stuff on a bully's face.'

"He had it coming!" Eli laughed.
"You did what?" Their mom said from the other room, overhearing the conversation. -
Callum looked up. 'Who did what?'

"Eli, what did you do?" Eli's mom asked.
"James was being a jerk so I got some payback." -
'What?!' she exclaimed. 'Eli, you can't do that! When did this happen?!'

"Before I went missing." Eli said vaguely. "After he punched me at the bus stop. He had it coming."

'He did what?!'

Eli sighed. "We can talk about this later mom!"

'No, I'd like to hear about it know,' she snapped.

"James punched me in the stomach so I drew on his face while he was sleeping." Eli said, changing the story slightly so it made more sense for her and they wouldn't have to explain EVERYTHING.

'That's...' Eli's mother stuttered, unsure how to respond. 'Why did he do that?'

"Because according to him I'm a freak." Eli said. "Can we talk about this when Callum's gone please?"

Eli's mother glanced at Callum, then back at Eli. 'Alright.'

Eli gave a small smile. "Thanks." They said, turning back to Callum. "So...."

'So,' Callum said.
