Miles put on FaceTime to his friend back in London, Edward.
'Hey, dude!' Eddie said, smiling.
'Hey. Sorry for calling you at this time, it must be pretty early for you.'
'Not at all! I'm glad to see you, how's it been in L.A.?'
'Fine. The weather's weird compared to London, but I suppose that's normal.'
'Hey, I've gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?'
Miles noticed a girl in the background. One of the snobby girls from his school back in London. 'Yeah...' he muttered, then Edward hung up. -
"Please don't, i'll do your chores for a week!" Amber said quickly, and the sisters thought carefully. "Throw babysitting in and we have a deal." One said, and the other added "for now."
-
Miles frowned and closed his laptop, not wanting to think of the possibilities a girl in his best friend's house would lead to. He set the laptop back on his desk and picked up his book.
-
She had an idea after a few moments of sitting on her bed. She picked up a piece of paper and wrote in big, bold letters: Number? She sat on the edge of her bed and opened her window, starting to throw small pebbles at Miles' window to get his attention.
-
Miles glanced up. He frowned and stood at his window, opening it and looking at Amber.
-
She held up her paper and pointed to it. The two sisters stood menacingly in the back of the room, glowering at the open window.
-
Miles nodded, grabbing a blank piece of paper from his desk and writing down his number. He folded it into a paper airplane and threw it over to Amber.
-
The paper airplane flew into her room, right at the feet of the menacing sisters. They looked down at her as she carefully grabbed it and ran back to her bed, unfolding it and adding his number to her phone.
Hey. she texted him. -
Miles felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He closed his window and sat on his bed, looking at his phone.
"Hello," he texted her. -
(I'ma jump off for the night, goodnight!)
Her sisters came and closed the window, muttering about letting cold air in. Amber typed and deleted, typed and deleted, until she finally settled for: "my sisters started to blackmail me." -
Miles frowned.
"What about?" -
"Mom dislikes me climbing through the tree, and my sisters told me they'd tell so i told them i'd babysit the next few times." Amber sent back.
-
"I could help you if you like," Miles texted.
-
"It's fine, i don't think i'd have to babysit anytime soon. My mother rarely goes out." Amber replied.
-
"Why is it such a bad thing to babysit, anyway? Are the kids you have to look after tiny monsters?"
