"yea. She's one of the sweetest here." Amber replies. Her phone buzzed, and she checked it. "Oh, my mom needs me home..." She says.
-
'Oh,' Miles said, stroking the cat. 'Do you want to head back? I could walk you home.'
-
"Yea, thanks." Amber said. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she looked at Miles and the cat.
-
Miles smiled and returned the cat to the cage. 'We should do this again sometime. It was fun.'
-
"I agree." She says, smiling as well. "I can't come over tomorrow at all, since i'm going to be busy with stuff. But... Can i come over Monday night?" She asks.
-
'Of course,' Miles replied as they headed to the exit. 'I'll have to practice my cello, but other than that I'm free.'
-
"Alright." Amber says. Ms. Hitcher waved to the two as they left, and Amber waved back. They walked back in silence, and when they got back, both of Ambers sister were watching from the upstairs window. "They are so creepy..." She whispered.
-
'Holy cannoli,' Miles said, looking up at them. 'Are they your sisters?'
-
"Yep." Amber says."they're attached at the hip, when they're not attached to their phones."
-
'Huh,' he muttered. 'Do they always stare creepily at pedestrians?'
-
"No. Just at me." She replies, laughing a bit.
-
Miles narrowed his eyes at the older girls above them, then looked back to Amber. 'Well, I suppose I'll see you on Monday?'
-
"See you Monday." Amber said, waving to Miles as she opened the front door. "Who was that?" Her mother immediately asked. "A friend, mom." Amber replied. "Does he go to your school?" She asked. "No, mom. He goes to the public school." Amber rolled her eyes. "Then how'd you meet? If you're crawling through that tree again-" she trudged up the stairs as her mom rambled on and on.
-
Miles stared at the door for a few seconds before heading to his own house.
'Did you have fun?' his mother asked, not looking up from her paperwork.
'Yup,' Miles answered, walking up to his room. He took his laptop and opened it, sitting on his bed. -
Her sisters were still at the window when she got up to the room. "Should we tell mom?" They said in unison. 'creepier than normal' she thought. "Tell mom what?" She asked, and one replied "that you're crawling through the tree." Amber winced. "You actually see that?"
