Nikolai didn't say anything, he just wrapped Nat in a hug.

A tear ran down Nat's cheek as she hugged him back.

"It's alright." Nik said softly, brushing the tear off of Natsuki's cheek.

Natsuki nodded weakly, closing her eyes.

Nikolai kissed Nat on the top of her head.

Natsuki sighed. 'Thank you,' she whispered.

"No problem." Nik said, though he wasn't sure what Nat was thanking him for.

Natsuki leaned into him more, taking a deep breath.

"You ready to go back to Terry?" Nikolai asked softly.

'Honestly, no,' she responded. She was very angry at her foster father. After two months she'd though he'd understood the concept of privacy, but obviously he hadn't.

"Alright, take your time." Nik said, brushing his fingers through Nat's hair gently.

Natsuki stood there contently.

Nikolai played with her hair some more, smiling gently.

'I love you,' she mumbled.

"I love you too." Nik said softly, surprised and elated with how random it was.
