(I'm back!)
Lily smiled as Anne brushed her hair, wincing every now and again and worrying about how dirty and greasy her hair was. She really needed to wash it, but of course she didn't have anything. -
*anything to wash it with
-
After a while, Anne managed to get her friend's hair as unknotted as possible, and begun to tie it into a braid. She was careful to not pull too hard so it hurt Lily's scalp, but just enough so that it was firm.
She tied it up with a white ribbon and sat back. It was so neat compared to what was there before, and made Lily look so different. 'There's a mirror over there,' she said, pointing to a mirror hung on the wall. 'Do you like it?' -
Lily rushed over to the mirror and a big grin filled her face. "I love it!" she was so happy she ran over to Anne and threw her arms round her neck.
-
(gotta disappear for a moment, I'll be back in 10-25 mins! Sorry!)
-
Anne was taken aback by this, and flinched slightly. Her father never really hugged her, and her mother she barely saw. After a moment, Anne leaned into Lily and wrapped her arms around her torso, smiling.
-
(bumping so you can find it)
-
(Sorry)
Eventually Lily pulled away still a big grin on her face. "What should I do now? And how do I repay the favour?" she asked trying her best not too use slang as she knew Anne didn't like it. -
'You don't have to repay me,' Anne said, giving a small shrug. She tucked a loose curl behind her ear and jumped up, taking Lily's hand. 'Come with me. This is only part of the plan,' she said, a mischievous note in her voice.
-
"What?" Lily asked, following Anne out of her bedroom. "Where are we going?"
-
'Downstairs,' Anne responded as they moved down the steps. She took them two at a time, but was careful to slow down when her Nonna came into view.
'Good evening, Nonna,' she said, kissing her grandmother on the forehead hastily, then kept walking. She walked through the house until she saw her mother.
'Good evening, mother,' she said cheerfully. -
Lily bit her lip anxiously as they passed her Mother. Anne's Nonna had seemed fine, not really noticing Lily, but she couldn't be certain about a younger woman.
-
'Who is your friend?' Anne's mother, Lucinda, asked. She was a young woman in her 30s and had neat blonde hair tied into a firm bun secured with pins.
'Lily,' Anne responded in a bright tone. 'May she stay here for a few nights? Her father is on a business trip and cannot look after her.'
'And her mother?' Lucinda asked, raising an eyebrow. -
Lily sighed and turned to face Lucinda. "My Grandmother is rather ill at the moment, so my Mother is looking after her" Lily finished, the excuse had instantly come to her mind.
-
Anne smiled and looked back to her mother hopefully.
'Fine,' Lucinda replied, turning away. 'You may stay in Anne's room. Our spare room is being taken by my father.'
