"Mhm, I think so. I heard something else as well, maybe some sort of shouting?" she suggested.

'Hm,' Anne said, standing up. She opened her closet and took out a smart soft brown dress and put in on her bed, as well as two pairs of clean stockings and her boots. 'Let's dress, then find out what happened.'

Lily smiled. "Okay" she agreed pulling on a pair of stockings.

Anne pulled off her nightgown and put on some underclothes and her dress, before pulled on a fresh pair of stockings and her boots. 'Shall we?' she said, holding the door open for Lily.

Lily nodded walking through the door. They then retreated down the stairs until Anne's Nonna stopped them. "Good Morning, my Anne. Who are you with?" She asked eyeing Lily.

Anne glanced at Lily. Her Nonna must've felt the vibrations of two people on the wooden ground, as her sight wasn't so good. 'My friend,' Anne responded, taking Lily's hand and making a hasty escape.

Lily made a sort of groaning sound that could of resembled themselves. She ran with Anne until they reached the bakery door. "Why didn't you want your Nonna to see me?" she asked generally confused.

'She's awfully old-fashioned,' Anne replied, walking into the kitchen. 'Please sit, and I'll fix us something to eat.'

"Alright" Lily responded sitting down on the chair nearest to her. "Thanks, thank you" she added. "You know for the food and everything else"

'Thats alright,' Anne replied, fixing up a batch of porridge. 'Please don't thank me, though.'

"Why not? I'm grateful" Lily questioned.

'Because you don't need to. It's me who should be thanking you.'

"What?" Lily stated genuinely confused now. "Why would you be thanking me?"

'I'd be thanking you for being my friend,' Anne replied, setting the two bowls of porridge on the table. 'I don't have all that many, and I thank you for being one to me.'

Lily beamed at that. "Then thank you Anne, for being my friend. Your my first friend, so that's quite a big achievement don't you think?" she chuckled then looked at her porridge. "What is this?"
