The twigs and leaves cracked satisfyingly under Maya's sneakers. With her hood over her head and earplugs playing music, she smiled contently to herself. Away from everyone was where she liked to be. Away from the people who called her emo and antisocial and rude. -
Sienna trekked through the forest (on her way to school) legs aching. She picked up a stone and threw it in the lake. She wasn't having a good day. She had just learnt her parents would be splitting up. Of course, she had been expecting it-but it was such a shock to her. Sienna wished that they would get back together-but it was no use. Sienna jumped. A few feet away stood a girl, with her hood up. Sienna could see white wires trailing down her hoodie.
"Hello?" -
She turned her head to face the girl.
'Hello,' she said quietly, turning away. Maya didn't plan to go to school today. Being the top of her class, lessons were often boring, and just another excuse to socialise. It was that part of school she hated. -
Sienna looked Maya up and down. "Do you go to Oakmoor too?" she questioned.

Maya sighed and pulled her earplugs out of her ears. 'Yes,' she huffed, turning back to the girl.

"Can we walk together? I've kind of got lost." Sienna asked tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

'No,' she said sternly. 'I don't plan to go today.'
