"Oh really?" Jaime rose an eyebrow. "I couldn't tell with how serious you always are. Now hurry up and do something before it drips onto your hand."
-
“Well what do you suggest I do?” Ethel asked in a haste. “Lick the ice cream?”
-
"You did say you'd "try it for yourself," Jaime said.
-
“But… but it’s so unhygienic!”
-
"You're the one who suggested it. Now are you actually going to have it or can I have my ice cream back before it drips all the way down your hand?"
-
Ethel swiftly handed the ice cream cone back to Jaime, her face flushed bright red in embarrassment.
“I was just testing you!” Ethel scolded. She folded her arms across her chest, a small pout forming on her face. “Besides, you can’t just trust a random stranger you met a few hours ago.” -
Jaime finished saving his ice cream from completely melting away. When he got it under control he said, "I made you play twister and you survived, who's more trustworthy than I?"
-
“No, I was talking about how you shouldn’t trust someone you just met a few hours ago.” Ethel peered up at him, straightening her glasses. “But yes, I believe you are worthy of being deemed trustworthy.”
-
Jaime laughed. "If only my parents could hear you now. They think I'm the Devil incarnate."
-
“Well, are you?” Ethel inquired.
-
"As far as I know, not very much. Maybe only half incarnate," Jaime said, giving another lick of his ice cream.
-
“What makes you say that? It’s not like you’ve been on the run from the police, have you?” Ethel asked. While it may have looked like teasing, it was actually a genuine question.
-
"I'm not on the run. They just haven't caught me yet," Jaime said with a smile and a wink. Before she could blow up at him though he said, "I'm just joking. I haven't done anything as bad as that."
-
Ethel placed a hand on her chest to calm her racing heart. She had genuinely thought he was serious for a moment.
“Oh my goodness, don’t scare me like that.” Ethel scolded. Even though it looked as if she was horrified by the mere mention of him being on the run, half of her shock was directed towards his wink. -
"Please, I don't think you'd allow yourself to enjoy my company if I was such a bad guy," Jaime said with a smirk. "In fact I doubt you'd actually take the job unless your parents forced you to "
