A question mark appeared on the screen
-
Zumae hissed at the robot, trying to get it to talk again. "Why'd you go quiet? What's the screen for? Why the question?"
-
"he'll hear me" appeared on the screen. Suddenly, a noise came from the far side of the room. It sounded like the door of the lab opening
-
Zumae frowned, nodding. They shoved the book back under the bed they slept on, and turned their attention to the far side of the room.
-
A rather ugly man with a bowl cut walked down the stairs. Azura knew who he was and with fear he decided to temporarily override his systems with downloads. His wires fell from the space between his faceplates and the screen.
-
Zumae got scared by Azura's actions, and with a somewhat choked scream, scrambled back and started forming large amounts of ink.
-
The man got to the bottom of the stairs when he heard noise coming from Zumae's cage. "What was that? Quit your racket!" He yelled. He started walking up to Zumae's cage. Azura wished he had the will to shut off his system at that moment
-
The harsh voice only scared Zumae more. They whined, trying to hide themself in desperation and fear.
-
The man walked up and slammed on the bars of the cage "if you keep on whining I'll send you to the vat!" He shouted angrily.
-
Zumae bit back their whimper. They didn't know what the vat was, but they didn't want to go there. The anger in the man's voice scare them, but they were too scared of him hurting them that they didn't make a sound.
-
Satisfied by seeing zumae in fear, he turned around to see Azura. "Stupid robot." He said walking up to Azura. He pulled up azura's torso to look at his screen. "A download? How useless can you get?" He shouted pushing Azura back. Azura fell with a loud mechanical clang as the man started walking away.
-
Zumae reluctantly lifted their head, glancing over to Azura. They crawled over to where the robot was and frowned. "You okay?"
-
The man turned off the light as he left. Azura started to sit up with the churning of gears
-
Zumae shifted nervously, the sounds scaring them. They could see well in the dark, but very strongly disliked the grinding noises coming from Azura.
-
The screen showed the download at 90%. He started shoving wires back behind his screen. He wished he downloaded sign language instead of another firewall and several small bug protections as if he wasn't fortified against most hacking with three other firewalls and redirects
