Arianna breathed in the fresh air of Britain as the boat made its way to the dock. Her hands gripped the rails of the boat in excitement as she awaited the adventures to come.
Her brown hair blew in the cold wind as the boat arrived at the dock.
Arianna took her bags and shuffled down the steps of the boat once it had stopped moving.
"Thank you, sir!" She called out to the captain, waving a pale hand in his direction as a goodbye.
The captain of the boat just nodded his head and waved back. -

Mr. and Mrs. Brierton were waiting on the dock for their new servant.
"I wish I could see her more often than I will be," Mrs. Brierton said.
"Yes, Abigail, but your sister is more important," her husband said.
Mrs. Brierton was going to Delaware to help her sister who was six months pregnant. Mr. Brierton would stay in North Carolina with the farm. Their son, Josiah would be returning in a few weeks from school in Boston.
"Oh is that her?" she asked, seeing a girl with long brown waves. She was very pretty. Abigail Brierton immediately took a liking to her kind eyes.
"Yes, I think so," said Marvin Brierton.
Abigal began waving in Arianna's direction, hoping to catch her eye.
"Abby, you're making yourself look like a fool," Marvin muttered to her.
She just fixed him with a glare, then turned back to Arianna's direction. -
Arianna caught the excited wave of Mrs. Brierton and grinned. She must be here with her husband.
Mrs. and Mr. Brierton would be her new mistress and master. They were kind enough to offer to take Arianna into their humble abode, so the motivated girl planned to make their life easy and peaceful.
"Itβs very nice to meet you, Mrs. and Mr. Brierton." Arianna said politely, curtsying before her new bosses. -
"Come on, let's get in the wagon," Marvin said so that the two ladies wouldn't stand there for hours talking. They could do it in the wagon.

Arianna saluted her new boss.
"Ay!" She exclaimed, picking up her bags and shuffling into the wagon. -
Mr. Brierton fixed her with a glare. "In my house, you will act more proper."

Arianna's eyes widened a little bit in shock, then quickly melted into an apologetic gaze.
"I apologize for my bad manners, sir." Arianna mumbled with a small down, her mouth twisted up into an apologetic smile. -
Abigail gave her an apologetic smile back. "I'm going to be gone for the next few months to help my pregnant sister," she said. "You'll be working around the house, the garden, and also a bit in the farm."
