Warming my heart

All around Tessa, maids and butlers were bustling around to get work done. They kept whispering things like, "He’s coming to meet the orphan.”
-
Tessa was just wandering around, confused. She was pretty sure none of the servants would know where her room was, or very few of them.
She felt out of place in her ragged clothes. Sandy was clean, but she most certainly was not.
Tessa noticed a large pair of double doors and walked inside. It was a library. A gigantic library. She didn't read often, but when she did, she loved it. She sat on a couch that was in the corner and Sandy lept up and laid next to her. -
The library was a quiet, peaceful place. Classical music played on a radio.
The library was a bit dusty, but it wasn't the worst. -
She leaned over and pulled out a random book. It turned out it was Grimm's Fairy Tales. Well, who didn't like reading children's stories? She felt she could relate to a lot of the characters as well. Tessa didn't care if Mr. Ryder was going to see her. She was content exactly where she was.
-
A few minutes passed by. Those minutes turned into a few hours of endless reading.
Out of the blue, a maid just barged into the room and grabbed Tessa’s arm.
"Y-You aren't suppose to be in here!" The maid gasped. -
"Huh?" Tessa said in surprise as she was suddenly yanked away from her piles of books.
-
"This is the bosses-"
"Who dares to enter my library?" Boomed a loud, angry voice. -
Tessa jerked in surprise at the sudden volume of an unknown voice. She looked around the maid to see who it was.
-
It was a tall, slender, muscular man with black curly hair that had gray streaks running through it and dark green eyes. Wrinkles littered the mans skin.
He took a step towards Tessa.
The maid fearfully bowed down in front of the man and said, "I-I apologize, Boss.” -
Tessa looked at the maid in confusion. She didn't see what the matter was. It wasn't as if the library was dangerous or anything. In fact, she thought Mr. Ryder had rather good taste in books.
Unfazed, she held out her hand. "I'm Tessa," she said. -
"Y-You don't talk to Mr. Ryder that way!” The maid hissed.
-
Tessa raised an eyebrow at the maid, again, in confusion, then turned back to Mr. Ryder with a small smile on her face. Apparently, he wasn't going to shake her hand, so she lowered it. "I like your taste in books," she said. "You can't go wrong with the classics."
-
The mans face softened into a bright, cheery smile.
"Thank you, Ms. Tessa. In case you haven’t noticed, a few of these books are the very first books to be written." Mr. Ryder declared proudly. -
Tessa raised both eyebrows in surprise. "Impressive," she said. "I never get much of a chance to read, but I love it when I can."
-
"Since you'll be staying here all week long, you can read to your hearts content! But, please do spend time with my family and I. We love having you here."
