The guard knocked on the Prince's bed-chamber door. "Your Highness," he said, "someone is here to talk to you."
-
He almost shouted in anger. He had to do everything here! Lares quickly put on something formal and opened the door with a serene smile on his face. "Yes? Please, I would be honored to meet this individual," Lares replied.
-
The guard nodded. "She is waiting outside. I will go get her. Where should I bring her?"
-
"Bring her to the living room, so we may converse in peace. I want no distractions," Lares declared. What does this puny girl want? he thought to himself.
-
(It would be called the parlor or the drawing room)
"It will be done," the guard said and left to go retrieve the girl.
Erina looked up when the guard returned.
"Come with me," the guard said. "He will meet you in the drawing room."
"Thank you," Erina said and followed him there. As she walked through the castle, she couldn't help but stare in awe at what she saw. -
Lares strutted to the drawing room. Wealth was displayed on the walls. A girl with curly brown hair stood on the opposite side of the room. Despicable, he thought, but kept that thought to himself. "What do you want?" he demanded.
-
She bowed to him. "Your Highness," she said, then stood straight again. She got straight to the point. "I would like to receive archery lessons from you. You are the best in the land, and I would like to learn from the best."
-
Lares sighed. He knew it was impossible. Nobody could wield a bow as well as him, but he was touched that this girl had come to him. "Very well," Lares agreed. "Quite a worthy request. Give me two weeks."
-
Erina's blue eyes lighted up and a smile formed on her face. "Thank you!" she said. After another bow, she left his presence.
-
Timeskip?))
Two weeks later, Lares had completely forgot about the deal he had made with Erina. He couldn’t imagine himself as a teacher or an instructor. What if he messed up in front of Erina? She would surely tell everyone, and he would be a laughingstock. However, if he backed out, he would appear as a coward. No. His reputation was on the line. -
(Sure)
Erina showed up on the training grounds with a bow and a quiver of arrows. The bow she had was pretty good, she had been lucky to acquire it. She waited for Lares to come. -
Lares sighed. He had business to deal with today, didn’t he? An ominous feeling engulfed him, but he shook it off and exited his room. Hmmm... what am I supposed to do today? he asked himself. He saw a familiar-looking girl in the training grounds. Oh. That girl. He scowled to himself and grabbed a bow and a quiver and walked outside, trying to look as dignified as possible.
-
Erina was looking around, wondering where he had gone, wondering if he had forgotten. She turned one way and was relieved when she saw Lares approaching her, bow and quiver in hand.
-
Lares uncomfortably shuffled over to Erina, bow in hand. Sweat dripped from his brow. He wasn’t sure if he was up to this challenge, but he would rise to the occasion anyway.
"So," Lares began, "do you know the basics? How to hold the bow, how to aim a little, that kind of stuff?" -
"Not entirely," Erina said. "I"m very inexperienced."
