"Turner I don't think you're okay," Callyn said with raised eyebrows.

"Call, I'm doing great. Just a tiny bit.. flustered?"

"From what?" she asked out of pure confusion.

Turner's face flushed.
"Nothing..! Don't worry about it." He chuckled. -
Callyn raised an eyebrow but said nothing, turning her attention back to the cookies.

Millions of thoughts rushed into Turner’s brain all at once.
Callyn had been thinking about him? Him, the person who broke her heart.
And got her run over by a car.
She thought about HIM? -
"Turner?" Callyn said quietly, lost in thought.

Turner snapped out of his own thoughts.
"Yeah?” -
"I wanted to let you know something," Callyn began. "It's been on my mind for awhile, but...I don't know, I guess I finally got the confidence to talk to you about it."
"I like you," she said. "A lot. But...with what happened last time for me...I don't think I'm ready for a relationship yet." -
If Callyn didn't notice Turner's blushing, she had to have noticed by now.
His eyes were wide open, a few joyful tears in them. His face was redder than the reddest thing in the world. And his heart, oh how he hated it at the moment, was beating faster than the fastest thing on Earth. Its beat was hard to keep up with. At one point, Turner thought he heard ten beats at the same time. -
"Turner you look like a tomato," Callyn chuckled.

"Y-Yeah, how could J not? The woman I love just freakin' confessed to me." Turner squeaked. He gasped at his accidental confession and slapped a hand onto his mouth, somehow turning even redder.

Callyn nodded. She looked down at the counter. "But I'm not ready yet. I know it's been years since it happened, but I'm still...worried, scared, I don't know what it is."

"About?” Turner asked, tilting his head slightly as if he couldn't understand why she felt that way.

"Someone getting hurt," Callyn said, looking down at her hands.
