“We should go to the beach then. The sun hits you just right.” Ruby said as she closed her eyes as well.

"Hmm, that sounds good. Wanna go?" Carlos said, opening one eye and looking at her.

“Definitely!” Ruby exclaimed and opened both her eyes.
(I’m guessing when they go or are at the beach they get kidnapped?) -

Carlos smiled at her. "Let's go then! Race you there!" -
Ruby had already started running. When she got to the beach, she glanced behind her. She assumed she had just beaten Carlos.

But Carlos just simply wasn't there. No one noticed his absence and it was like he had never existed. A man took Ruby by the arm and tugged her towards a truck. "You need to come with me," he said in a low growl.

Ruby started panicking. “Why do I need to come with you? Wheres Carlos? Who even are you?!” She exclaimed.

The man didn't answer any of her questions and tossed her in like a sack of potatoes, slamming the door shut. Carlos coughed as dust flew around them. "Ruby? Is it you?"

"Carlos? What's going on?" Ruby asked, trying to remain calm.

"I don't know," Carlos said, tapping his hand around to feel if there was anything there. "I can't see a thing."

"What if we got kidnapped?!" she exclaimed and she rocked back and forth.
(So Ruby isn't the smartest-) -

"You know, I have a feeling that's kind of the point of being thrown into a dirty truck," Carlos said. -
"Maybe its our parents playing a prank on us to teach us responsibility? Maybe we should jump out of the truck!" she said with a panicked tone in her voice.

"If we can open up the hatch," Carlos suggested, feeling around for one. The darkness pressed down on his eyes. "God, it's dark in here."

"Do you have your lighter with you?" Ruby asked as she started looking for a hatch as well.
