"Then he uses fear," Adrian said. "If you don't take his side he will do his best to kill you, because you can either be his weapon or the one that thwarts him."

"You don't have to worry, I would never work for him, no matter what he does to me." Jewel said as she realized the bird was eating Adrians food.
She laughed. "Guess he loves your food as well." -
"I thought you said it was a she," Adrian said as he moved to the changed subject. He leaned back, this pulling out his hand from under hers.

"I guess I never really knew what gender it is." Jewel said, realizing her hand had been on Adrians for the past few minutes. She blushed.
"What kind of gender do you think it is?" she said pushing away any dirty thoughts. -
Adrian shrugged. "I don't know, I've only been able to tell with dogs and peacocks."

"We'll have to give it a name. How about Piper?" she asked.

"You're giving it a name, not me," Adrian said. He stood up from the table and started putting the food away.

Jewel immediately got up from the table. "I can help with that!" she exclaimed.

Adrian didn't stop her, even though she didn't know where anything went. "I want to try and see if we can work on getting your abilities to actually show up today."

Jewels face lit up. "Like flying?" she asked. "Or raising people from the dead?"

"Necromancy is illegal," Adrian said. "The punishment is death."

"Huh. I never knew that." Jewel said. "So, were you stalking me before I fell into the river?" she asked.

"Like I said last night I just got home the day before yesterday from London," Adrian said.

"No, I mean how did you know I was gonna go there?" she asked.

"I was drawn to the place," Adrian said.
