She got up immediately. "Twolegs? Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure!" Owlpaw said between short panicked breaths. "Pyropaw, what do we do?"

She looked at her. "Go tell the leader, find out where she's sending the patrol, or if she sends one at all. If she doesn't, we're on our own. If she does, we'll search where the patrol doesn't."

Owlpaw ran off to follow those exact instructions as Skypaw entered the warriors' den. Bramblebelly was just sitting in the corner, soaking up the news.
"What's going on?" Skypaw asked, confused. -
Pyropaw looked up at him. "Our mentors are missing. I just sent Owlpaw to tell the leader so we can find out where she's sending patrols."

"They're missing?" Skypaw said, his head twisting back and forth as if expecting to see them stroll back into camp. "How is that possible?"
Owlpaw returned. "Sunstar is sending a big patrol to search the whole territory, starting from RiverClan border. Hawkpaw, Falconpaw, Palmfrond, Rootpaw, and Bramblebelly are on it." -
"I think we should go to Twolegplace. Twolegs move faster than our patrols do, and they could already be in their Twoleg Den by now." She turned to Skypaw. "Do you want to come with us? Three cats will be safer together than one."

"Of course," Skypaw said, nodding politely to Owlpaw to acknowledge her presence. "We should go now, before the Twolegs have more time."
Sharkpaw pricked his ear, overhearing them. "Can I come?" he asked. -
Pyropaw turned to him and nodded. "Just be quiet about it, we don't need the warriors finding out."

Sharkpaw gave her a curt nod before turning to Owlpaw.
"You didn't have to do that," she protested. "It could be dangerous!"
"All the more reason I should go," he said, licking Owlpaw's cheek. "We're in this together, remember?" -
She cleared her throat. "Okay, when you two are done being all lovey-dovey, we should go ahead and go."

Sharkpaw looked a little pink. "Right! Let's be off then."
Skypaw rolled his eyes to himself and padded out of camp, carrying the scent of herbs that he surrounded himself with. -
Pyropaw followed them, padding silently behind Skypaw.

Skypaw fell back so he could walk side by side with her. "How are you feeling?" he asked, keeping his voice to a low whisper so Sharkpaw and Owlpaw wouldn't hear.

She shook her head. "I don't know. We knew that Holloweyes was going to die, but now this?"
