Stormcloud followed, before they came to an abrupt stop by a familiar shimmering lake. "Diamondheart!" He yowled angrily, before there was a rapid shove to his side.
-
Frog caught the butterfly, before letting it go. "Toad, do you think I could be a Clan cat?"
"No, you're too soft and squishy," Toad said quickly. In reality, Frog would make a good Clan cat, Toad was just very protective and wanted his brother around. -
Drakestorm scented the air. "I smell vole." He told his mother, guestering to a small gray one sniffing around the grass.
-
"Good job," Nightpelt said. "Whistlepaw, would you like to-"
But she had already launched herself at the vole, lifting her head triumphantly to show off the prey. Nightpelt sighed.
"Whistlepaw, you really must learn patience. You almost missed that one." -
"Try to be quiet," He told them. "A few tail-lengths from here, you see that hole? It's the vole's nest. We found it before we gave the territory away, and there are nine more voles there."
-
"No wonder Fernstar chose the territory," Nightpelt murmured. "It'll end up giving us far more prey over time then InfernoClan could offer."
"Let's get them!" Whistlepaw said. -
"I'll chase them out. You two, get as many as you can. I'll take care of the rest." Drakestorm mewed.
-
"Let's turn our backs to the InfernoClan border so that the voles don't run to their territory," Nightpelt decided.
"Alright!" Whistlepaw said brightly. "Let's get some more prey." -
"Ready?" He asked. "If so, get into your positions."
-
Nightpelt and Whistlepaw nodded, giving him the all clear.
-
"Come on, Toad," Frog said. "Doesn't it intrigue you at least a little?"
"Little food, freezing temperatures, diseases and vermin, as well as being stuck with a heap of barbarians and having to work all day? No thank you," Toad replied. -
He pounced on the vole's den, scaring all nine of them out.
-
Nightpelt caught one and then another, whereas Whistlepaw got two in one go. The two chased down the rest.
-
Drakestorm stretched out one paw and killed one running from his mother. "Well, this is a lot. More than enough!" He purred happily.
-
"You're right," Nightpelt said. "This should last us for a while."
A few had scampered back into their dens, which Nightpelt was fine with. There could be young inside, which would mean more prey in the future. -
"Let's take it back to camp!" He said.
