Captain looked agitated and shadows lashed around his feet as he shook his head

"Who is "him"?" Cass asked, before instantly regretting it.

"Va-A-alE" he choked out, his voice distorting harshly as he hunched over and started clawing at the brand on his head

Cass bent down, taking his hands away from his head. "Hey, hey. Don't do that. You're safe here, okay?"

Captain was shaking, his eyelight darting around in panic while his upper eyes had opened slightly "Wa-A-TciN-g"

Cass was getting freaked out, but tried to keep her cool. "No no no, no watching," she said. "Deep breaths."

Captain tried to follow her instructions, forcing himself to take deep breath

"There we go," Cass said. "I'll pick something out for you, okay?"
Chrome rubbed against Captain's legs, meowing. -
"Okay" he said, his voice flat. He looked down at the cat and rattled at it

Cass got a plate full of food and plunked it down on the counter. Chrome meowed again at Captain, his tail straight as a flagpole.

Captain carefully bent down and pat the cat

Chrome initiated "engine.exe" when he received the pats.

Captain started rattling quietly, mimicking the cat

Cass recalled some kids' toys and wondered if Captain would like them. She decided to bring them out.
