Harper reached over and tightened the straps around Robo. He then looked forward as they charged along.

Robo strained to lick Harper's palms, his tail not wagging for fear it would get smacked off by a tree.

"How far away do you think it is?" Harper asked.

"Hang on, give me a second," Crypta said, trying to remember the woods they were now charging through.

Harper gave her a bit to think.

"It'll be a while," Crypta said. "We'll need to stop and rest at least once."

Harper nodded. "Alright," he said. He admired how fast the steed could go.

"Did you get any sleep?" Crypta asked, remembering the blissful hours she had been able to take.

"A bit," Harper said.

"You can get some more," Crypta said. "I'll make sure you don't fall off."

"I'm wide awake after what just happened," Harper said.

"Me too," Crypta said. The forest made her remember things she wanted to forget, so she closed her eyes and thought about her dad. He wasn't her real dad, but he had been the only dad she'd ever known. She wondered what he would think if he could see her now.

Harper didn't have much to think about other than how they were going to survive with Linnus after them. -

Robo sensed their emotions, particularly Harper's. He nudged his nose under his hand and licked his palm, his tail wagging a little. -
Harper placed his hand on Robo to hopefully satisfy the dog. How long would it be until they found them at the cabin? And after that? When would they stop?
