Kylee washed onto the island and got a mouthful of sand. She coughed and choked and took a deep breath of salty sea air. She winced and gently touched her ribs.
-
Angie was caught on a large wave, sweeping her speedily towards the island. With a scream, the wave crashed as she was thrown near the shore. Kicking her legs, she lay down on the shore, belly down, waves still washing over her.
She was unmoving for a few moments, before she flipped over and panted. -
Simon was on the shore of the island laying on his stomach on the firm sand underneath him. He knew they had to find shelter, but they needed to rest for a bit.
-
Caleb coughed up seawater, shaking his head to clear it. He was coated in gritty, salty sand on every part of his body, but he was alive. He sat up and took a few deep breaths. "Is everyone okay?" he asked.
-
"I will be. But for now..." She knelt on the ground, wringing out the bottom of her shirt. "I'll be fine." She looked around at the mess of kids coughing and covered in sand.
-
Angie held her stomach as she coughed up the cold saltwater.
“I... HATE SHIPS!” She screeched, kicking at the sand and spitting out more water. -
Simon was surprised she could yell that loud. "It's still raining," he said. "We need to find shelter."
-
"Good idea," Caleb said. His backpack was soaked, but hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. He got up, offering his hand to Angie to help her up.
-
Kylee glanced around the island. It was raining so hard that she could barely see her companions scattered along the shore. She held a hand over her eyes and pointed to a shape of trees. "There," she said. "A forest."
-
Angie groaned and quickly scrambled to her feet, she definitely didn’t want to be last. With her hair tossing behind her, she got ahead of the others and started to trudge through the thick sand.
-
Simon got up and started following the others towards the trees that the other girl had spotted. He'd have to find out their names once they were somewhat safe.
-
Caleb held his backpack over Kylee's head, although they were both drenched. The rain was horribly thick, but the island looked somewhat tropical. They'd probably be seeing fog later.
-
Kylee smiled warmly at Caleb. "Thanks," she said, rubbing her arms to warm herself up. "By the way, I don't think I caught your name. I'm Kylee."
-
Angie stepped into the tropical forest, sighing. The large leaves of the trees above her kept most of the rain away, but she was still drenched.
-
Simon tripped over a large something that he couldn't see, got up and continued forward. The rain and wind had depleted a bit, but they were still just as awful. He saw a flash of light then the low booming of thunder.
