(It's ok)
And...her mood just tanked. she'd forgotten about Morgan. Rasia stopped snapping to the music. She started wondering if he would come home like he had the day before.
Rasia was surprised that she had only known these people for a few hours at the most, and she was already concerned for them and was calling their home home. It wasn't her home, though. Citego was her home.
But sue could have a home in two places, right? -
"Well, we should probably head home now," Alainora spoke up. She pushed herself away from the counter and slowly stood up from her seat. "It's getting pretty dark, and it's been a crazy day."
Cassie nodded her head, smiling at the girls. "Yeah, I suppose you're right. I'm hoping business tonight isn't so slow, but we'll see," she chuckled. "It was nice meeting you, Rasia." -
Rasia stood up. She didn't recall telling Cassie her name. "You too!" she said, anyway. Maybe she did, but just didn't remember. She didn't think much about it, and gave Cassie a wave.
-
(oh s--- maybe she didn't say her name lol sorry)
Alainora began leading Rasia through the busy night streets. It almost felt like there was more people on the streets at night than they were in the daytime. Less people were working, and there was more time to relax and have fun. Alainora couldn't blame everyone for wanting to let loose every once in awhile. Living in that part of the city could be rough, especially since the Oiri patrolled harsher there than anywhere else.
She hadn't walked very far at all, when suddenly all of the nights turned off. It was as if every single light in the district was suddenly killed, spreading a blanket of darkness over the area. Alainora turned to try and find Rasia through the dark, but her eyes had a hard time adjusting to the sudden darkness.
"Looks like another power outage," she joked, reaching out to try and find Rasia. -
(It's okay XD maybe she's not all that she seems)
"You get those a lot?" Rasia asked. She moved her arm around, trying to find Nora. She was seeing lights dancing in front of her eyes from the lack of them. They were like blueish green splotches in the shape of what the light was shining through. -
(yeehaw cassie is a damn mind reader)
"Yeah, sometimes," she giggled. "They don't really last long though, so if we stay still we should be fine and just wait for the lights to come back on."
She could feel the unrest of the people around her. Things seemed much darker than they normally were. Alainora could at least recall some sort of distant glow, but this black out seemed different. A frown formed on her face as she thought of her brother. He was working in the factory, and now there was probably an outage where he was at. It certainly didn't make for the safest working conditions.
"Are you doing okay?" -
(That one person that cares a lot for the characters is always more than they serm)
"Yeah, I'm fine," Raisa said. "I'm just not used to things being this black, even when my eyes are closed at night. But shouldn't it be over by now?" Rasia wasn't sure. She stared into the inky blackness waiting for the lights to come back on. -
Drawing her eyebrows together, Alainora nodded her head, then remembered that Rasia couldn't see her.
"Yeah, normally it's done by now. I wonder if something more is going on," she pitched in.
Not even seconds later, a high pitched screech echoed through the air. It wasn't loud, but it was still distinct enough to cut out the chatter of the crowd. Then, a huge boom echoed throughout the streets, and a colorful array of sparkles glittered throughout the sky. More and more began to pop off, lighting up the sky almost brighter than the sun could during the daytime.
Alainora panicked. What was this? She had never seen anything like it before, and there was so many.
"What are these? Are these bombs?"Alainora shouted over the booming of the fireworks. -
Rasia chuckled. "They're fireworks," she said. She walked over to Nora, since she could now see her in the flashing lights. "That usually means that something good has happened."
Something good for Shicicliff, she remembered. Which might mean something bad for Citego. -
"Fireworks?" Alainora echoed, confused. "I've never seen them before."
She stared up at the sky in amazement, looking at the beautiful array of colors before her. Tucking a few loose strands behind her ears, she covered them slightly as the booming sound seemed to get closer and louder. She then turned her attention to Rasia.
"Did they used to set these off in your village often?" -
"Usually only on really important days or big events," Rasia answered. She remembered what fun she'd have watching the fireworks. "I wonder what they're shooting them off for," she said. If Nora hadn't seen them before, they couldn't have done them very often.
-
Moving her hands from her ears, she looked around at the expression on everyone elses face. They seemed just about as confused as she was. After the many years she had spent in Shicicliff, she had never once even heard the mention of these fireworks.
"I don't think it's a special day today," Alainora said. "They never set these off, even on holidays."
But that's when something even louder than the fireworks went off. An alarm blared, echoing eerily throughout the city. For a short moment, everything was still. No one move or spoke, it was nothing but the sound of the alarm and the fireworks. But then, it was as if dominoes started to fall. One by one, people began running and screaming in every direction.
Alainora grabbed onto Rasia, making sure that she wasn't going to lose her in the crowd. The people were not very gentle as they ran around them.
"Everyone, get back to your homes!" an Oiri officer shouted, his voice hardly audible above the commotion. -
"What's going on?" Rasia asked, having to shout over the panic and the screaming. She was starting to doubt there actually were fireworks. "What's the alarm for?" She had no idea what was going on, but she knew it wasn't good.
-
Being pulled with the flow of the crowd, Alainora began moving, tripping over her bad leg, dragging Rasia with her. Her brown eyes were wide, and wild with fear.
"I don't know! This has never happened before!" she shouted, trying to run back into the housing district so they could get inside before the Oiri could do anything.
It wasn't that far to the housing district, and the girls came up on it fairly quickly, and the crowd began to thin out. The alarm continued to blare, and fireworks popped off in the air. But there was something that caught Alainora's attention. She stopped dead in her tracks, her grip on Rasia loosening.
Off in the distance was a large orange glow. It overpowered most of the fireworks being set off in the air, giving a red tint to the sky. It was almost the same view Alainora saw as a child when a village next to her original home was burnt down.
She stayed standing there, frozen, her mouth slightly open in awe. -
There was a fire. "Nora!" Raisa yelled, " Nora, we have to go! " She needed to quit staring and get away from it. It did look magnificent, with the fireworks going off above it, but they needed to get out of there.
