Alainora turned to Rasia. Her vibrant red hair floated around her head gently in the breeze, framing her small face perfectly. But her eyes. They were still wide with fear, but they were beginning to swell with tears.
"B-but my brother," Alainora trembled, her hand reaching up to point towards the blaze. "The factory is that way." -
Rasia turned towards the fire. She didn't want to get burned to a crisp, that was for sjre. But Nora's brother was in there. There were two sides tugging at her. She didn't know if they should go into the fire or play it safe. She just didn't know.
-
"I have to go find him. I can't leave him. He's all I have," Alainora said, glancing behind her.
She had no idea how they had gotten there so quickly, but there was roughly 20 Oiri officers. Each one of them had a medium length metal staff in there hand, that looked to be around the height of a walking cane. She had no idea what it was, but she wasn't going to stay and find out.
"I can take you back to the house if you don't want to come with, I understand, but we need to leave, now." -
"I – No, I'm coming with you," Rasia said. The offer had tempted her, but by the time Nora would get back from dropping her off, the fire may have spread even more, and there would be a larger chance that Morgan was dead.
-
Nodding her head, Alainora grabbed Rasia's hand to make sure that the two of them wouldn't be separated in the crowd. She began running as fast as her legs would carry her, doing her best not to trip up on herself. The commotion of everything around her made her heart flutter faster than she had ever felt before. She hated this feeling.
The closer the two of them got to the factory, the brighter the orange glow around them grew. Once they got over the hill, they were in full view of the factory. About half of it was in flames. There were firetrucks stationed around the area, doing their best to dump water on the fire to help put it out.
"The fire doesn't seem to be that big. Maybe he made it out before it got to his station," Alainora shouted over the alarms. -
"We should still make sure," Rasia yelled. "We don't know which station he was in." She assumed that was the case, because Nora didn't know if he was alright or not based on where the fire was in the building.
-
Nodding her head, Alaniora took a step towards the factory, but stopped when she heard yelling. Looking to her left, she saw roughly five Oiri officers. They had those same staff like canes in their hands as she saw before, but this time they looked like they were lighting up with electricity at the tip of it.
In front of the Oiri was a group of men dressed in all black. Their faces were covered with some sort of black mask that only made their eyes visible and they were fighting back against the Oiri. She was stunned. She had never seen anyone stand up against the Oiri before. Doing so was like asking for a death sentence.
"Nora!" a voice shouted through the crowd.
It was her brother! He was running through the thick crowd of people as fast as he could. His clothes were stained with some sort of black substance, and his face was just as dirty. There was a wetness dripping down his face, and it took a moment for Alainora to realize it was blood from a scrape he obtained.
"Run!" Morgan shouted, waving at the two girls to move as he made his way closer to them. -
Rasia grabbed Nora and started running. They knew he was alright now. He was still in danger, though, but the same amount of danger they were in.
She did wonder about those people going up against the Oiri, though. They were probably the people that had started the fire, she realized. She just kept on running. -
Morgan quickly caught up to the two girls and he was then running right beside them. Chaos continued around the three. The fireworks slowly died off until the only thing that could be heard was the roaring of the siren around them.
Luckily, the house wasn't too far away, and once it was in sight, Morgan ran in front of them a little bit, opening up the door for the two.
"Come on, hurry!" he waved the two in. -
Rasia sped up. She got inside the house and let go of Nora. "What was all that?" she asked Morgan. She used the wall for support while she caught her breath. She didn't think she'd ever run that fast before.
-
Shutting the door behind them, Morgan quickly rushed to the curtains in the room and began closing them. It was extremely dark in the house due to the power outage, and closing the blinds just made it worse.
"I don't know how to explain it," he said, panting slightly.
He grabbed a rag on one of the counters and put it up to his wounded head, hissing from pain. He wet the rag, and then put it back to his head again, rubbing it around, trying to get rid of the blood.
"There were these men dressed completely in black that broke into the factory. They started barking orders about how we needed to shut everything down and leave. I told them I wasn't going to do that and started tussling with one of the men. He got me pretty good, but in the fight something went wrong. I don't know if I hit something, or if they set it off on purpose, but the entire other half of the factory overloaded. That section refines oil and packages coal to help fuel the war efforts, so everything over there was flammable. It's also what caused the outage on my side of the factory, and I'm guessing the rest of town."
Alainora grabbed Morgan's arm and started tugging him towards the garage, motioning for Rasia to follow.
"Do we know who these guys are?" she asked.
Morgan shook his head. "Not really. I think most people think that they're from Citego, though, and they were trying to pull a terrorist attack." -
That was an idea that Rasia had had. At least there'd be something to stall the next attack. But at this point, she'd look for a treaty, so that the fighting could just stop. She didn't want anymore blood and death. She didn't know how it got started or who started it, she was sure there was going to be a lot of pointing fingers, but she was going to finish it. Rasia followed Nora and Morgan to the garage.
-
"You don't believe that, though," Alainora said as she searched around on her workbench. She grabbed a flashlight and shined light around the room. It wasn't much, but it was better than the pure darkness they had before.
"No, I don't think it was Citego," Morgan admitted, sitting down on Alainora's bed while she looked for a first aid kit. "I know it makes sense that they'd want revenge after the assassination of their leaders, but there's no way they could so quickly form an attack inside of our city. I mean, it took us two years before making a move in the war during the stalemate. It was a huge operation."
"Then who is it?" she asked, finally grabbing the medium sized red box from one of the shelves in her room.
"I think it was some of our own. A splinter group. A buddy at work told me about these strange meetings on the street. The Oiri were catching word of it and they were trying to break up these fraction groups, but I think our people are getting sick of this tyranny." -
"So this might even turn into a civil war," Rasia said. "They'd have to turn their attention off of Citego and to the people within Shicicliff." The wheels inside her head were turning and whizzing.
-
"Yeah, I think so. There doesn't seem to be a lot of them at the moment, but look at what they can do," Morgan said.
Alainora took a spot next to her brother and began working on cleaning the wound on his head. She struggled to clean everything and hold the light up at the same time, so she reached the flashlight out to Rasia.
"Can you hold this for me please? I can't see," she asked.
