Kendril trudged up the foggy hill. His destination shone out like a beacon for him and his men to follow. He didn't like this idea. He had even openly opposed King Hugin of Tyromeira and his decision, not without cost, to dig up the Hatchet.
The Hatchet had brought them peace for 500 years. It had been the end of a war between Tyromeira and Deminer. When the Hatchet had been buried, it made a magical bond. They were unable to make war against each other.
But King Hugin had become bloodthirsty. He had been craving a war, and decided that the only way for that to happen, was if the hatched was dug up.
So now Kendril walked towards the beacon, with a few magicians to undo the binding, and a few other men to help dig, to dig forty feet into the earth and bring up the Hatchet. -
Griffin trudged behind the other soldiers. He had never been the most trusted soldier, considering he had a Deminer accent. Truthfully he was more loyal to Tyromeira than anyone in lowtown, but who would believe words from lowtown scum who couldn't even remember if he was from Deminer or Tyromeira. Even if they didn't believe him he would continue to journey onward till they reached their destination.

Penelope couldn't sleep. She found herself pacing back and forth. People always thought she was stupid or weak because she was blonde and female. She showed them all up, but there were still some who talked to her as if she were lesser than them. But she was a faithful Deminer soldier, and no one would stop her.

Soon, they reached the top of the hill. The glowing was caused from a glowing hemisphere over the place where the Hatchet was buried. The brightness cut through the fog that morning.
He saw the magicians struggle with the wards, for they were made to never be taken down. After about an hour they finally succeeded. They got some food and laid on the ground to get their energy back. Taking down wards that weren't supposed to come down, and that had been there for 500 years was no easy task.
Kendril pushed his shovel into the ground, and started digging.
