Atalith looked at Elaine in a very confused way. "Who are you and what've you done to Elaine?" she asked.
-
"Elaine, you don't have your powers. And you can't just up and kill it."
She dipped two fingers into the water and yanked them out as a hundred pointy teeth closed on the area where they had been.
"So we can't just swim across." -
“Of course we can’t! It’ll snap us in half!” Skye remarked, throwing her arms in the air. “How stupid is that idea? I say we sacrifice Elaine to distract that thing while the rest of us cross.”
-
"Um, no," Atalith said. Curious, she picked up a rock and threw it at the creature to see how it would react.
-
The creature instantly clamped its jaws (which could easily cover a basketball) on top of the rock. It spat it out distastefully, cutting back and forth through the water.
Alia stared at it, stumped. Then she realized that it had to have some other food source, because it would have died by now. She dug her hand into a small cranny, and managed to catch a large hairy thing. She dangled it above the beast's head, and it's eyes brightened. -
Survivalist Alia))
“Um... okay? It doesn’t like rocks. But what is that?” Skye asked, pointing to the thing that Alia held out, “Do you think that whatever you’re holding might be able to help us? Maybe you could smack the creatures head with it.” -
cuz I gotta make all of these challenges and the solutions for them ;_;))
Alia put it on the ground in front of her, and the thing wriggled up. She seized one of its fins and hauled herself on top of it. Then she snatched the hairy thing up and held it before the beast, so that she could steer it. She disliked having her legs in the murky water.
"Hop on!" she said. -
Sensible Elaine returned. "That's a good idea, but how much can that thing actually carry?" Elaine said in a reasonable voice.
-
"I mean, if we sink it, it's not really a problem," Alia said. "But this thing's pretty big."
-
Skye jumped onto the thing. She settled behind Alia and tried to keep her feet out of the water.
-
Atalith grabbed a few more stones, then got on.
-
Alia held the hairy thing in front of the beast and it obligingly slithered across the lake. When they reached the other side, she waited for everyone to get off before tossing the creature its food. It snapped it out of the air and dove back into the depths.
-
Atalith dropped the rocks back onto the ground. Alia had had the carrot, but the didn't have the stick, so that's why she had brought the stones.
-
Alia wiped herself off as best she could. "Blurgh. That was disgusting."
-
"at least I can think rationally for now." Elaine said in a scared tone.
