(Purple XD no.)
"Why would you possibly want to kill us?' the voices said again. "After what we did for you."
Gaynor shook her head. She wouldn't listen. She wouldn't listen. Eventually her breathing slowed down. She stood up straight, though obviously with a struggle. She opened her mouth, then said, "You have done absolutely nothing for me. You've only killed and destroyed, never once giving. To anyone. This isn't just for me. It's for everyone who was hurt, harmed, and killed during the Raids.
Suddenly there was a loud shriek, and the cage dissipated before her. -
James sat down next to her, looking at her with a greatly concerned expression on his face.
-
(It's a shadow. Not purple.)
Gaynor nodded. "I'm good," she said. "I guess I know my worst fear now." -
(Oh...)
"I-" James began. Suddenly, their surroundings blurred. They were in a dark, cold room.
A girl with long blonde hair was seemingly dead, and James' face went white. -
"Is that her?" Gaynor whispered. "Your friend?"
-
"Yes," James said through clenched teeth. He turned around and by her side was a twisted hunk of metal which was barely recognizable as 84. Then, on her other side...was Gaynor.
-
Gaynor put her hand over her mouth when she saw her own body.
-
(And her comes the panicky normal speaking)
"It's not real. It's not real. It's. Not. Real," he said, looking away. He looked between the hallucinatory Gaynor to the real Gaynor. "Not real."
Their surroundings whirled again, and the snake reappeared.
"Very good," she said in a silvery tone. "What is the middle of middle and the end of end?" -
"d," Gaynor said. "Really, you should try making these riddles harder. They're pathetic."
-
Aislet let out an enraged hiss, her jaws opening wide. "I must have simple riddles for the mundane!" she retorted.
-
(Have you read Cassandra Clare's books? Mundane is a term she uses for normal people.)
"Really, you do," Gaynor said. "But I passed your riddle, so can we please go through?" -
(I have not)
She let out a soft hiss and disappeared. James looked at her in amazement.
"You must tread carefully around Aislet. She can cause more trouble than you'd think." -
(You should.)
"I'll keep that in mind, then" Gaynor said. -
They stepped in the portal and found themselves in a large arena. Aislet (I actually really like that name) slithered around them.
"A simple riddle I shall give. You measure my life in hours and I serve you by expiring. I'm quick when I'm thin and slow when I'm fat. The wind is my enemy. What am I?" she hissed. -
Gaynor frowned. She had heard this one before . . . then it clicked after a few moments. "A candle!' she said.
