"I'm no loner," he sneered. "I am the new Sun Pride leader. I have defeated your old leader, and you will treat your new leader with more respect!"
"It's time for you to leave, Sauda, and start your own pride. You aren't a cub anymore, so I will be merciful and not kill you. I have not yet chosen a mate," he added, looking at Oseye and Kinigua meaningfully.
Kinigua spat on the ground. "I'd rather die." -
Oseye stumbled back sputtering. She shared a glance with Kinigua, “No, look for a lion as horrible as you!” She looked around frantically for her father, “Where’s Oba?” She snapped at the new leader.
-
(Technically Oba would have been killed, but that can be changed if you want)
The lion smirked. "There is no need to worry about him. Now either you leave," he snarled at Sauda. "Or I will kill you." -
(Do we stay in the pride or go with Sauda?)
Sauda glared at the new leader hatefully. “I’ll come back for Sun Pride...” He stalked off, muttering under his breath.
***
Oseye looked after her brother, she looked back at the Sun Pride leader. A feel a pang shot into her heart, “Oba’s dead...” -
Kinigua growled and leapt at the lion unexpectedly. He yelped with shock as she slashed at his face furiously.
"You filthy flea-bitten maggot!" she screeched. He managed to throw her off, one paw pressed against his face.
"Go!" he spat. "I don't want to see either hide nor tail of you by sunset!"
Kinigua ran off, following Sauda's scent. She found him and padded over to him, relieved. -
Sauda spun around in surprise, “I thought you were going to stay with that killer! Where’s my sister, did she follow you?”
***
Oseye watched Kinigua run off, she turned to the other lion and cast him a hateful glare, “Good riddance, you germ.” She sprinted after Kinigua, How did everything change so quickly? A hunt to my father’s death!? She began to catch up to the two lions. -
"I'm not sure," Kinigua admitted. "I attacked him."
She tried to lower her left leg and put weight on it, but when she did, she let out a sharp hissing noise and pulled it back up. -
Sauda looked at her leg, “You hurt yourself while attacking him!” He spotted Oseye in the distance, “C’mon, let’s find somewhere to rest.”
-
Kinigua nodded, and limped her way to a sheltered cave, where she tenderly lowered herself down.
-
Sauda watched Kinigua with concern flickering in his eyes, after she had arrived in the cave he sat down by the entrance waiting for Oseye. His sister finally came in, a look of deep shame plastered to her face. He ran to greet her but she slipped away from him and flopped down on her side. Sauda decided not to interact with her and lay down near Kinigua and Oseye.
-
Kinigua flexed her leg gently, wincing a bit. She looked at wearily before grinning.
"I got him good though," she muttered, satisfied with herself. -
Oseye sighed, her pumpkin colored pelt ruffled and her eyes dull. She sat up, “I’m sorry...”
-
"What do you mean?" Kinigua said, looking confused.
-
“If I hadn’t decided to go hunting right away we would have been there for Oba, and my mother. We could have fought that idiot off...”
-
"There's nothing you could have done, Oseye. You know that you wouldn't have been able to interfere anyway. If it was a fair fight," she added bitterly.
