Hunter held Annabelle's hand and gave her a quick peck on the mouth before saying, "I like being your dork. Your happiness means the world to me," He said sincerely.
-
After an hour or so, the camp was finally set up and most everyone was asleep, except for Annabelle. She seemed to just look at the stars for a while and think of nights spent in her youth.
-
Hunter rolls over in his sleep. By morning he'd forget what he was dreaming about, but more often than not it was about Annabelle. He still remembered the first time he caught sight of her. He first thought that she was a demon (she had red eyes after all) and then his second thought was that even if she was he'd trade his soul just for her to be his friend.
-
Annabelle had finally gone to sleep sometime in the night, cuddling Hunter in the process. Most of the goblins and orcs had gotten up early and tried to tear down the campsite as quietly as possible to let Annabelle sleep.
-
Hunter yawns himself awake at the sound of the campsite being taken down; he was quite a light sleeper. He sat up and smiled down at Annabelle, who was snuggling into his waist. Hunter softly placed a hand on her head and let her sleep for awhile. Moments like this were worth more than gold.
-
Annabelle slept until most of the camp was taken down and the sun woke her up. As soon as she was up, She helped with the rest and then began the journey again.
-
Hunter feels refreshed as they start their expedition again. Nothing like a good night's sleep to be prepared for another day of walking. "Carriages wouldn't be such a bad investment," he remarks after a while.
-
Annabelle said So would mounts to use them, but we don't have those yet.
Several days for traveling later, the group made it to the forest where the map to the mystic pools should be. The Forest of Illusion as it was called is a very confusing mess where getting lost is easier than walking. But the map was said to be in an ancient castle somewhere in the forest, but no one could say for sure due to the ease of which people got lost and never came out. Annabelle looked at the forest with determination and knew it just had to be in there somewhere. -
"Forest of Illusion," Hunter says grandly when they'd made it to the forest. He kicks a tree boredly. "Gotta say, I'm not all that impressed," Hunter says as he raises an eyebrow at the woods, almost challengingly. "What's the plan on not getting helplessly lost? String tied to tree? Or are we going Hansel and Gretel style, with bread crumbs?"
-
Annabelle said "No, I have a better plan. Something simple, yet evil." She then turned to her red goblins and the orcs and said "Cut down and burn every tree in this forest. Leave nothing behind." The red goblins got excited and began burning as the orcs got to chopping.
-
"Forest fire? Oh, I'm all for this!" Hunter says enthusiastically. He remembers the first time he'd found out about his immunity to fire. He had accidentally tripped and his arms landed right into the fireplace. When nothing happened, he asked his mom about it. She told him they were descended from lava monsters and that through the centuries their powers have dispersed as they mixed with humans, but what remained was always an immunity to fire. He tried to ask for more details, because by God that was interesting news to him!- but she refused to answer and just said she needed to get back to work and to stop bothering her.
-
Annabelle said "If I am to be the Overlord, I must show no mercy. Even to trees." A voice then said "And that's why we need to stop you." Annabelle turned and saw another fairy army lead by a different general.
-
Hunter stepped next to Annabelle and quickly equipped his bow in alarm. "You're not stopping anyone you stupid old geezer," Hunter growled at the new general. Some of the trees behind them had already caught fire, they could use this as a tactical advantage.
-
The general said "Forsooth. Thine hast gone far enough in thou quest and shall go no further. For I, Falink the Undefeated, shall put a stop to this." Annabelle looked in sheer disbelief at the words that just came out of his mouth. She looked at Hunter and asked "What is he talking about?"
-
Hunter shrugged. "Sounds like rubbish to me," He replied to Annabelle with a small chuckle. He decides to try and mimic the general. "If thou really art Falink the Undefeated, then thy be prepared to relinquish thou title. For I am .. uh.. Hunter the Undaunted," He says dramatically.
