Ma'Tonzi watches all of this from atop Jord's head. She didn't do or say much of anything, as was in her nature. Ma'Tonzi has known the Vanshires for the longest, and she knew they could argue and bicker a lot, but they still loved each other and respected each other's opinion. She didn't see a need to worry.
In fact, Ma'Tonzi wasn't doing anything in particular, and she was quite tired, so she could've easily fallen asleep on Jord. The only thing that stopped her from doing so was the guilt she would feel, because she would sleep meanwhile her friends couldn't even go to an inn and rest. All she could do was hope that Quill would return with miracle news or something like that. -
Quill
(Going back and checking the turn order is time consuming, so I'm gonna bolden whatever character I'm playing in each post so it's easier to see the order)
"Who's this you have here? A dragon, from the looks of it. I've never seen one up close," Quill begins curiously edging towards Faber, but they swing their weapon threateningly. Quill takes the hint and backs off, but not without first raising a brow and saying "Hmm. Feral. What a shame."
"EXCUSE ME?" Faber shouts. Quill ignores them. "Rita, let me take a second to remind you how much I hate you," Quill says to the witch. Rita sighs and holds her hands to her temple as if she suddenly got a headache. "Yes, I know, Quill. You say this every time you visit," Rita replies.
"Yes, I suppose I do. Anyway, I need you to tell me where the wizard is. Or perhaps a place to sleep." He says. Rita raises an eyebrow. "Party of five, I'm presuming?" She asks. Quill tilts his head thoughtfully. "How'd you know? Was it your clairvoyance or are you just dying to nose around into what goes on in my life?" Quill asks. He motions towards the crystal ball, still showcasing the scene where Rowena and the others were. Quill couldn't quite make out what they were doing now from where he stood, but he wasn't willing to step any closer to the blue haired woman.
"If I had known you were on the other end of that crystal ball then I would've thrown the crystal out by now, just for showing me your face," Rita counters calmly. -
Faber
Faber is getting angrier and angrier as they watch this interaction. They just cut Faber out of the conversation like she wasn't even there. "Excuse me, but if I don't get some answers soon I really am gonna go feral," Faber interjects. Faber walks over to Quill and puts their hand on Quill's head mockingly. The height difference was astounding.
"Quill, was it? Since this witch here is useless, how about you tell me where the wizard is so I can be on my merry way," Faber says dangerously. Faber takes a tighter hold on the elf's head, their whole hand able to cover a lot of his face. "-Or else I might just accidentally crack your tiny neck."
Quill doesn't look alarmed at all by Faber's actions. "Impatient and a lack of manners. Do all dragons have such a rude attitude?" Quill asks no one in particular. Then Quill swings a leg in front of Faber's feet, and the elf takes a hold of Faber's hand and their back and pushes the dragon onto the ground. Quill now had Faber pinned, all in one swift move. Quill had a hold of Faber's arm too, if Faber moved wrong they could dislocate their shoulder.
Faber was aghast. They'd just been overpower by an elf.
Rita says, "No need for that you lousy scoundrel. Faber here is a guest, and I'd rather my guests not be thrown around."
Quill doesn't let go. "If this one here is so important to you, why don't you just give me what I need and I'll be on my merry way," Quill says, echoing Faber's words. -
Rowena, Gwen, Jord, Ma'Tonzi
Rowena doesn't even flinch as Gwen kicks at her magical barrier. Rowena was always naturally gifted when it came to magic. She was pretty powerful so a simple shield like this was as easy as breathing at this point.
This continued for a while until Gwen tired out, and she sat down on the ground to catch her breath. Jord sat down as well, but next to Rowena. Oasis slithered onto the siren excitedly. The snake loved Jord, just like most animals did. Oasis especially loved when Jord would sing and small woodland animals would flock around him. It was like an all you can eat buffet for Oasis.
"Where did Quill go exactly?" Jord finally asks, breaking the silence. He said it quietly but it sounded loud when no was else was saying a word. Rowena shrugs. "But he'll be back, I'm sure. He'll have food or good news or a map or something," she says with an optimistic smile. Gwen scoffs. "Any food he brings would have been stolen or conned," She says.
Ma'Tonzi was getting brighter as it got darker, close to midnight, or perhaps even later than that. It was late. They were tired. "What if we camped here?" Rowena wonders out loud. "Everyone would think we're insane," Gwen says. Even though it was late, stragglers still wandered the streets, and some gave dirty looks at the weird group sitting on the ground in front of a burned down inn. "Who cares what people think?" Rowena says with a giggle. -
Quill
Rita wrinkles her face in annoyance. "You need beds for the night? Fine. Whatever. I'll conjure some. But I wouldn't recommend that you break your future teammate," Rita motions to Faber.
Quill promptly lets go of the dragon's arm. "Oh, sorry I didn't realize. You must be Faber." Quill says. Faber grunts as they pull themselves up. "You know me?" Faber asks with narrowed and untrusting eyes. "Why yes, Faber. I know everything about you. I've been eyeing you for a long time, Faber." Quill says ominously.
Faber looks freaked out for a moment, but then Quill chuckles mischievously. "I'm pulling your leg, dragon. Rita said your name a minute ago, you probably weren't listening because you were busy being my stepping stool," Quill says. Faber looks embarrassed and says "Oi, that was a one-time thing, elf. You caught me off guard." -
Faber
Faber would never admit it out loud, but they had gained a newfound respect for this elf named Quill. No one would normally dare to take Faber on like that in a surprise attack, and instead of being angry Faber was in awe.
"Go and gather the rest of your cohorts, I'm sure they're getting more tired by the second. When you return I will have my home ready for you. Oh, and bring Faber along. I'm sure your group would love to meet their newest member," Rita says to Quill.
Quill nods and gestures for Faber to follow him. Faber hesitates for a moment, but then complies. Faber doesn't want to lose track of this skilled elf. Quill starts to involuntarily twitch and fidget around as they walked. "Are you afraid I'll squish you, elf?" Faber asks with a smirk.
"Not in the least. Big encounters leave me more jittery than normal," Quill explains simply. This only raises more questions for Faber, though. -
Rowena
Rowena spots them approaching first, she hops up from the ground and waves as the elf approaches. "Quill! It's good to have to back because you won't believe what Gwen- oh, who's this?" Rowena asks curiously, finally noticing the big grayish looking person walking alongside him.
Faber grunts and turns away, almost as if to say 'I don't trust you, don't talk to me' all in one swift and silent motion. Quill takes out his notebook and begins to scribble things down as he speaks, "Faber, this is everyone. Everyone, this is Faber. They're our newest team member." Quill says as a brief introduction. "We also have beds for the night if you'll all follow me," Quill elucidate further. Rowena nods at all of this, and she picks up Oasis off of Jord, fully about to follow her elf friend, but then her sister stops her. -
Gwen
(Quick reminder to self to stop making such long posts..)
"Rowena, we just talked about this. How can you trust that elf? And now he's even got a dragon with him, who knows what horrible backstabbing plan he's got in store for us? Dragons are notorious for their bad temper and anger issues," Gwen says this all in a flourish, but as she says that last part Faber growls and says "Watch it," and a bit of steam comes from Faber's nose as the dragon huffs.
Rowena pulls away from Gwen and towards Quill and Faber. "Well, it's just like I said. I'm going whether you come with me or not. You can stay here and run back to mom and dad, or you can join me. Don't forget why we're doing this in the first place. If you want to turn back then go ahead. Seriously, Gwen. This is your last chance. Your company is not a requirement." Rowena says.
Gwen feels a pang of guilt as the image of her brother's sick and helpless face flashes in her mind Then another image, this one of Rowena, going on this terrible quest without her and dying a gruesome death. Gwen sighs. "Whatever, pipsqueak. Don't you forget that no matter what happens I'll have to follow you so you don't get yourself into trouble. You'll have to get my company whether you like it or not," Gwen says with a smirk as she ruffles Rowena's hair. Rowena chuckles.
It was like that with them. Serious argument one moment and then joking and caring sisters the next. Gwen says, "Seriously though, Quill, this is no time for brevity. What the heck happened? Where did you go?" Gwen asks. Rowena intersects, "And Gwen totally didn't mean all that stuff about you, she just gets worked up," Rowena says.
Quill barely looks up. "Huh? Oh. Yeah... Blue hair. Witch. She's letting us sleep at her house. Blah blah, you know the deal," Quill finishes whatever he was writing and claps in a 'case closed!' manner. "Just follow me, I'm sure you're all exhausted." -
(What the check gurl I just told myself to stop making long posts, why would u do this...)

[B]Jord/[b]
Jord goes into step right beside Quill. He'd rather follow him than sleep on the cold hard ground. He doesn't even question the new person, he just hums a soft melody as they walk. Jord checks on Ma'Tonzi as they go, and she flutters down and sits on his shoulder instead of his head. Gwen was at the back of the group, following slowly but surely. -
(I hate when the ubb codes don't work, I should've previwed before I posted damn it)

Ma'Tonzi
Ma'Tonzi grows brighter as the night settles in. The moon shines as if challenging her own, but there is not much of it because it is a waning cresent. Or was it a waxing crescent? Ma'Tonzi wasn't sure. Tomorrow night it'll be even darker though, since it'll be a new moon. -
Quill
Quill and The Gang reach Rita'a house, which is bigger than it was mere minutes ago. It was now a two story building. Quill doesn't bother knocking and just lets himself and his friends in. "Take whatever you want, and touch whatever you want," Quill instructs them.
"Not so fast, elf!" Rita screeches when she hears him say that. She raises her hand threateningly (a sign that she was a skilled magic user because she didn't need a wand to help guide her spells). Quill shrugs. "Fine by me. I'll steal all of your stuff slowly instead," he says. Rita groans. -
Faber
Faber had been silent throughout this whole interaction and meeting. They hadn't really had the chance to properly meet everyone. It was all quite surprising and Faber needed time to adjust to it.
Rita composes herself and puts on a smile. "How rude of me! My name is Rita, and I've conjured up beds for everyone here to stay the night. The entire upper floor is yours until the morning," She says. Quill yawns boredly. Rita hisses at him. Quill hisses back.
