(To lazy to reply to myself rn, but look at this cute spur-of-the-moment animatic I just made: :D)
-
Quill
Quill pauses his pacing to breath in, and finally murmur a comprehensible "It should be fine for now," Before chewing his thumb nervously. He then took out a little notebook and sat down and began to write.
The notebook was already filled to the brim, it was unknownst to even the wisest creature how he could continue adding to it. Quill's handwriting was extremely tiny to maximize how much information he could fit per page. There were loose pages stuffed throughout the book. It was messy in an organized way, a way only he could decipher. -
Faber
Faber is all too happy to unsheathe and show the fae girl her many instruments of destruction. They're like excited teens at a sleep over, except they were gossiping about weapons instead of cute boys.
Faber has... a LOT of weapons. Whenever Rowena thinks 'surely Faber can't pull out another one, there's no room-' Faber digs from some hidden compartment on their outfit and takes out another dagger, or a shortsword, or arrows. "How about this one?" Faber asks for the tenth time. -
Rowena
"That one's centaur made. They're pretty rare since centaurs are mostly peaceful, but you can tell by the slight hoof print indention in the metal," Rowena droned on, pointing and talking about each weapon as Faber took them out.
"Ohh these are witchcrafted. I'm guessing they were originally Vanshire arrows; you can see our little company logo indent, but it's lighter than normal and it glows with arcane energy." Arwyn says. She wonders how Faber got a hold of so many great weapons. -
Gwen
Gwen didn't know that Ma'Tonzi would be so angry at her. "Aw, Tonz, c'mon don't do that... Tonz.." Gwen said as Ma'Tonzi flew away from her. Gwen easily followed her; she was bigger and therefore could cover more air.
"I can explain. I have this family heirloom. It's a black dagger and it's extremely dangerous if handled by anyone not from the Vanshire family," Gwen says, trying to make amends. "I'm sorry, I know that's still no excuse. I won't do it again," She promises. -
Jord
Arrowhead was now on Jord's shoulder. After a few minutes of playing with animals Jord walked back over to Quill, who was now writing in hus notebook. "Uhm.. should we rest here or keep moving?" Jord asks tentatively, wanting to make conversation but not wanting to disturb Quill.
"No!" Quill says simply. Jord jumps back in surprsie. He wasn't sure which part of the question Quill was saying no to, either. "Uh.. I see you're busy, I'll just.." Jord slinks away back to the shade of a nearby tree. -
Ma'Tonzi
Ma'Tonzi is still a bit peeved despite the explanation, so she simply doesn't respond to Gwen. She flies back over to Jord so she can play with the wildlife that has accumulated around him. Better company. -
Quill
Quill finished writing down whatever he was writing and he stood up and went to the tree Jord was under. "Here, take this," Quill said, handing Jord a parchment of paper. Quill had another piece of paper, but he stuffed that one in the bounds of his book, closed it, and pocketed the notebook.
"What is it?" Jord asked curiously, looking over the page. "Instructions...?" Jord flipped it over, "A map?" He asked. Quill nodded. He looked Jord in the eyes, not needing to bend down to be eye level since he was naturally short, and said, "Kid, listen. This is a dangerous journey. I don't want to crush your spirits, but someone's likely to die before we reach the wizard... and I don't think it's wise that I be the only one with the knowledge of how to get to the mountain Rita was talking about. Don't tell the others about this, okay? I'm entrusting you to be the guide in my stead should something happen." Quill explained. -
Faber
"Fae girl is sure that this bow is made from Orcswood? And this axe handle?" Faber asks curiously. Rowena nods. "You can tell by the wood color, the orc lands grow trees with a slightly purple hue," She explains. Faber reaches down to the bottom of their shoe and pulls out ninja stars. "How about these?"
"Mmm... I think those are made by the seapeople. It's center is steel, and the jagged edges are bronze. These bad boys can last in water for quite a while, though they were probably used as multi-tined knives or spearheads instead of throwing stars." Arwyn said. Faber smiled and clapped Rowena on the back. "Fae girl is not so bad as I thought, eh?" Faber says proudly. -
Rowena
Rowena returned the smile. "Do you have anymore weapons on you that you want me to take a look at?" Rowena asks jokingly, sure that by now Faber couldn't have more. Faber shakes their head. "I have many more weapons of course, but the ones I showed you are just the ones I never knew the origins of," Faber said, laughing.
Rowena laughed along nervously, uncertain on whether Faber was joking or not. "I think we've left the boys on their own for a while, we should head back down and continue on," Rowena says. Faber nods in agreement. -
Gwen
Gwen saw that everyone was heading back down so she just shook her head and followed wordlessly. Ma'Tonzi would probably get over it, she just needed time to simmer down. She'd have to ask Rowena later what type of things Ma'Tonzi liked so Gwen could get it for her. -
Jord
Jord nodded at Quill solemnly. He knew that what Quill was saying was true, but Jord didn't think that anyone else, save for Gwen, really wanted to bring up the seriousness of the situation they were in.
Jord spotted Ma'Tonzi heading for him so he rolled up the paper and tucked it away before smiling and waving at her arrival. "Hi there. Was it the flight nice?" He asked. She fluttered around his head in response and he laughed. In the corner of his eye he saw Quill walk away from them. -
Ma'Tonzi
Ma'Tonzi settled on Jord's shoulder and began chatting with him while Rowena, Faber, and the other one began flying back downwards. Since she was close enough to his ear she didn't have to yell out against her quiet and softspoken nature.
"Are all creatures naturally attracted to you, or do they only stay because of your songs?" Ma'Tonzi asked Jord, eyeing Arrowhead scuttle off after Quill. Jord says "Animals are more prone to fall under my influence because they're simple minded, I guess. They follow even if I'm not making some sort of melody. People are complicated, though. Some prefer high notes, others low..."
"What do you prefer?" Ma'Tonzi asks curiously as a few yards away Faber, Rowena, and that other fae land on the ground.
"All music is beautiful... Not just music either, there's beauty in... everything," Jord answers wistfully as he smiles and waves at Rowena. -
Quill
Quill walks up to Rowena a few moments after she lands. "We need to keep moving. I want us out of this area of the forest before nightfall." He says. Rowena scrunches her brows immediately. "Is it dangerous?" She asks.
Quill laughs curtly in response. He raises his arms and gestures to the forest around them grandiosely. "Everywhere is dangerous! We're off to see the wizard, for crying out loud!... but, yes, I do think it'll be in our best interests to depart immediately. Make haste. Godspeed," Quill says. Rowena nods. -
Faber
"Lead the way then, elf. I will protect our rear," Faber says in response to Quill, nodding at them just once since Faber respected Quill to a degree. The fae girl was also getting high on Faber's Favorites list, though. Maybe that witch was right to team Faber with...
..No, no. What was Faber thinking? There were reasons that Faber had for working alone. It wasn't just to be cool, or to be edgy and rogueish.
