Quill stands, and while everyones is talking, he jumps off the cart and runs up front to stop the horses. The horses neigh in complaint and almost squashes the short elf.
Quill has to take out Arrowhead. The scorpion hisses and the horses back off instinctively. "Good boy," Quill coos to the tiny deadly creature.
"Oh my God, no pets mean no pets," Gwen says. The group was all outside the cart now, and Gwen was eyeing Quill disapprovingly. -
(Oh my gosh, I can't believe I wasted away Faber's turn last time, sorry about that folks)
Faber is sitting on a sofa chair stiffly, and at the edge. They make sure to be on the one that was closest to the door, in case they needed to make a quick escape.
Rita seems to notice Faber's cautiousness, but she doesn't say anything about it. "What exactly are we doing here?" Faber asks the blue haired witch lady. Rita was out of that ridiculous older lady form, and she looked to be about in her 20s. "I'm just gonna do a simple spying trick to see where your teammates are. You'll love it! It's a classic- I have a crystal ball and everything," Rita says with a clap of her hand.
"What if.. I don't want teammates?" Faber asks huffily. Rita pokes Faber on the nose, which makes Faber hold up their fists defensively. She was all the way across the room! How did she- "Silly dear! I foresaw you with teammates, so it's not a matter of whether you want them or not, it'll happen regardless!" Rita says. -
(I started a trend :0 everyone has backstory solo roleplays now, hehe)
Gwen is the oldest of the group, already an adult. No way would she allow another deadly animal to accompany them. Quill gives her hard stare a hard stare of his own, though. "Do you really think you can stop me from bringing Arrowhead?" Quill asks Gwen with a raised eyebrow.
Gwen actually doesn't know the answer. Quill is a ruthless mercenary and scholar, he had skills in both fighting, strategy, and logistics. Gwen had training as well though, and her family was renowned in crafting and weaponry. "You know what? We're not gonna fight right now. How about we just find the inn?" Gwen says with crossed arms. Tensions were high. -
"Leave it to me!" Arwyn says cheerfully, a juxtaposition of the serious tone present only a moment before. "Y'all hide the cart and I'll go see if the inn will have us, and see if any markets are open," Arwyn says with a wink at Ma'Tonzi. She skips off.
Jord, Quill, and Gwen all got to work on leading the horses, and subsequently the cart, off to a side road. They wouldn't be needing it anymore, the path of the forest said to house the wizard wasn't wide enough to travel by carriage. -
(Skipping Jord, Quill and, Ma'Tonzi's part because they're all the same. They got the horses in the back-)
Faber nods. What was it their dad said? In case of witches, just smile and nod and hope they don't curse you. Something like that. At the thought of their dad, Faber, shivered involuntarily. He hated everything, he could've been wrong about witches too.
"Will this crystal ball help me find the wizard?" Faber asks Rita. They want to first address that matter before thinking about how and when she would ditch whatever teammates this crazy lady was trying to push on Faber.
Rita shakes her head no. "I'll be helping you find the wizard, of course. The crystal ball is for finding that team of yours. Might have to crack out the ol portal," Rita says as she sets up the coffee table in front of Faber with her crystal ball and some tarot cards. -
Arwyn asks villager after villager, but when she finally reaches the inn, she's extremely surprised to find that it's smoldering and not much was left of it except the foundations and the walls, which could crumble to dust at any second.
"What happened here?" She asks the first person in close proximity, a green haired guy. "Some psycho set the door on fire, and everything else got caught in it," he answers. Arwyn nodded, though she was frowning.
What would they do now? Her team was counting on her! She needed to find a place to sleep and fast... everyone was already so tired. How could Arwyn let this happen? She wasn't a kid anymore, she really needed to grow up and start acting more responsible. She bet everything she had on this inn, and now, against all odds, the plan was literally up in flames. She should've had backup plans .. but she didn't. What a failure! What a mistake!
She digs into her bookbag and takes out Oasis to comfort her. The green haired guy's eyes widen and he backs away, muttering something about "girls of this century" and "crazy". -
Gwen nodded at their work in hiding the carriage. "Follow me, I know where the inn is. We can meet back up with Rowena," Gwen says to the group. She starts leading them through Ragno.
-
Jord whistled gleefully as he followed Rowena's sister. He didn't know her that well, he really only had a connection with Rowena. Gwen didn't seem to like any of them. Gwen kept her distance, her pace was brisk and agitated.
Jord liked everyone, though. He hoped by the end of this quest she would soften up to them. As they reached the inn, and subsequently Rowena herself, his gleeful whistle flatlined and then became silent. The inn was mostly just what was left of it's foundations. The rest was blackened and burned away into ash. What wasn't already fallen looked like it could fall at any second. Jord rushes up to Rowena and holds onto her in a terrified and confused hug. -
Ma'Tonzi flutters back on top of Jord's head to provide some level of comfort for both herself and for the half siren. She liked it there, perhaps because of the flowers he always wore like a crown. Perhaps because of the butterflies that seemed to love flocking around him.
She didn't say anything as she surveyed the situation. It looked bad. They had nowhere to sleep, and everyone was tired (her in particular, since she'd basically flown here). "We're gonna have to take a rain check on that banana bread, Monz," Rowena whispers quietly. -
As everyone got sad and mopey about the burned inn, Quill just sighs. Him and Gwen seemed to be the only two to not run up and hug everybody. He wasn't exactly the touchy feely type, and he didn't know Gwen well enough to know why she wouldn't get huggy either. "This is good, this is good. It's like a play, like a play. Something always goes wrong on opening night. It's fine, it's okay, it's good. That means it can't get any worse, that means the bad thing has already happened and we have to move forward and we have to get on with the performance, this is good, this is good.." Quill starts to say, but it was mostly him murmuring to himself (because I, Tamara, have so far described his murmuring as 'murmuring', but never actually typed out the type of stuff he says. So here ya go.)
Quill begins fidgeting his hands together. "Guys do we have a plan B?" He asks. Rowena just grimaces, and her expression clearly says no. "Guess it's up to me and my impeccable skills in living life on the edge," Quill says with a sigh. "Stay put, I'll be right back." He then scurries off without another word. -
"I don't need a psychic reading, I just need directions. A map would be great too, or better yet, a whole guide. You said you'd help me find the wizard? Why not just take me to him?" Faber asks the blue haired lady. Rita sighs.
"Me and the great wizard's arrangement doesn't exactly work like that. I know you want answers, but for right now I'm just here to make sure your team and you get on the right track," Rita explains. She starts hovering her hands over the crystal ball and humming.
"And you keep going on about a team! I'd like a table for one, please. I don't like working with- I don't trust- are you even listening to me?" Faber asks, sounding pissed. "Ah, found them. Looks like they're standing in front of .. Oh, oh that's kind of ironic. Heh. But where is the elf going- oh wait, it couldn't be, is that-" and before Rita can finish her sentence someone kicks open her door.
"Quill," Rita greets him with a frown. "Rita." Quill replies curtly. "What the fúck is happening?" Faber says, standing up quickly and unsheathing the first weapon she grabs from her seemingly endless arsenal; the handle of an axe that she uses for whacking things. -
Rowena can feel her sister's anger. It's almost physical, it reigns down on her in waves. Gwen is silent. She stays silent long after Quill takes his leave. Then she says, "What now, sis?" Gwen asks in the most accusing tone Rowena has ever heard. It was worse than the time Gwen told on Rowena for breaking one of mom's precious elven pottery.
"Listen, maybe when Quill gets back," Rowena starts, but Gwen interjects. "You have endangered all of us. We need to just give up and go home. If we go now we might can make it before everyone wakes up and even knows that we're gone." Gwen says. Rowena sighs. "Maybe you're right.. Oh man.. okay, when Quill gets back-" and Gwen interrupts again. "No, now." She says. Rowena gawks.
"You can't possibly expect us to leave Quill behind! If you want to go home, fine, but ALL of us are going!" Rowena was worked up now, probably causing a scene, but she didn't care. -
(Wow you have your own rp) (I was never here ok)
-
(Lol it's okay, nice of you to drop in! This actually isn't my only solo RP, there's also "Deadless" you wanna check that out :D)
"You want to bring that would-be assassin along with us? He killed a man with no remorse just an hour ago!" Gwen says, her teeth gritted. "This is our chance to leave him behind," Gwen declares. Rowena is fuming and shaking.
"He'll just find his way back, idiot! And he'll be sad and hreatbroken that we left him here, and he won't want to be friends anymore!" Rowena yells.
"Sad and heartbroken? Friends? He isn't your friend, he just want you for our library. He would've killed you otherwise," Gwen growls back. Rowena frowns. "This conversation is over, Quill comes and that's that," Rowena says. "Well, I'm your older sister and I say that you don't get to have the final say," Gwen retorts with a scoff.
"Well good luck! You gonna drag me home? Cause I'm not leaving this spot." Rowena declares. She then sits down right on the ground in a dramatic flourish. She's still holding Oasis, and she gently sets the snake down on her criss crossed legs. "Maybe I'll do just that," Gwen says. She tries to grab Rowena, but then her hand bounces off due to some sort of invisible force field. "Casting shield against me? Really? You're so childish, Rowena!" Gwen says in exasperation. -
Jord doesn't like this fight between the Vanshire sisters at all. He got scared as soon as the yelling started. Jord quietly backed away to a nearby alley to drown out the shouts. When it sounded like it was over, he hesitantly walked back out to see Gwen kicking at Rowena, but her foot didn't seem to be reaching the fae.
"You stop casting that shield right now young lady!" Gwen says. "Geez, you sound like mom," Arwyn's says with a little chuckle. Jord made his way over and began a ditty to calm down Gwen, but she turned to him with such a glare that Jord choked up and went silent before he could finish the first verse.
