"I suppose. But there were blueprints, right?" I asked, "So couldn't those be stolen? Or were they destroyed?" I paused for a second before getting an idea, "Oh! Couldn't the architect be captured and forced to reveal the location of the secret passage?"
-
"Maybe the artitechs were protected by the royal guard. No one considered the slaves." I suggested.
-
I nodded, "Yeah. But they could send someone skilled enough to capture the architect. But then again, if they had someone that good, they could probably just kill the king, but that might not necessarily be their goal, it just probably is."
-
"True. I guess I wouldn't know. Maybe I'll research it in the library." I replied.
-
I nodded, "Good idea, I'll help." I finished unpacking, stood up, and stretched, "Alright, I'm done, what about you?"
-
"I'm done as well. I read a few tricks in a book of how to search for secret passages, Let's go!" I cheered, taking her with me into the hall.
-
"So where are we going first?" I asked as I followed her into the hall.
-
"Well, we just go along the walls, look for any markings, and put our ear against them and knock. If it sounds hollow, then there's probably a secret passage." I replied.
-
"Alrighty!" I said and began to carefully scan the walls for any markings.
-
"Ah hah!" I cheered when I saw a large rectangular marking in the wall. She put her ear against and began knocking. "What are you doing?" An older guy walking past them asked. "Looking for secret passages." I told him. "Well I wouldn't call it a secret passage, but there used to be a door there. They covered it up when the storage room there became full." He told them.
-
"Well, this was an amazing discovery." I said sarcastically.
-
The guy chuckled and shrugged. "Rumour has it the real reason was a ghost from the Hallow's Eve Fire went to this school and became attached to their favourite classroom. So they stayed put and the school blocked off the room so that the ghost could live in peace." He told them.
-
"Peace, maybe, but being alone forever in a room would suck, no matter how introverted you are." I said, " Maybe other ghosts visit."
-
"That's not how it works. Ghosts take the room they were most attached to in their life and that's the room they stay in. Living things entering that space cause them jealously, confusion, depression, fear, anger, or some other form of distress depending on the situation. When alone, they relive random memories that occurred in that room and are able to believe they are still alive. However when living beings enter the room it breaks the environment of the memories and it's like waking someone up from a good dream. They have to see the reality that they're dead and accept it all over again, and they have to accept that you're alive. This disturbs them and they react strongly to it. So it's better we leave them in the peace of the life they left behind. Once they get bored of living the memories over and over, they start to actually and truly accept that they are dead, and then they are able to move on." He explained.
-
"Huh, I didn't know that." I said and then continued, "So their favorite room was a classroom? I don't mean to disrespect the dead, but I think they were a nerd. No offence to nerds of course. Though, I guess they could have just had a terrible life and this classroom was the only place they were happy."
