“Pfft. If you’re always weird then I’m always normal.” She said, sticking out her tongue playfully. She took one of the clips out of her hair and gave Jessica a look before placing it gently in her hair. “There. I thought this would look good on you.” She said, nodding her head decisively. She took a compact out of her bag and held it up for Jessica. It was a white skull hair pin that she had positioned so that it contrasted Jessica’s dark hair.
-
A soft blush came along Jessica's cheeks as she took a deep breath. "Thanks." She replied, keeping her voice cool and confident.
-
“No prob.” Alya said, waving away the thought with a flick of her hand. She glanced at Jessica again, sort of flustered and wearing her hair pin, and smiled to herself.
-
Jessica sighed in relief once she reached the classroom, sitting away from where Ayla usually sat.
-
Alya went to go sit next to Jessica but decided against it. She seemed like she needed a moment. For what, she has no idea. ‘I dunno what you did to her but she isn’t herslef today you twat’ she texted her brother. ‘Learn how to spell’ was the response she got.
-
Jessica felt relieved that Ayla didn't sit with her. She did her work as usual before walking out of the class when the bell rang for her next one.
-
Alya sighed and droned through the day. It was apparent that Jessica was avoiding her. Why? Had she done something wrong? Was it about what she had said before?
-
Soon it was lunch and Jessica sat by her locker, eating an egg salad sandwich. She sat by her locker as part of building her nerd rep. Tomorrow Ajax would be back and their competition will slow them down, so Jessica can return to her game.

Ajax played on his phone for a while, then banged his head on the table for a while, then played the knife game for a while. Maybe next he'd play Russian Roulette? He was really bored.
Alya meanwhile was stuck muttering about all the things that could have caused Jessica's shift in behavior. It was most likely last nights meeting, but she couldn't be certain until she ran through every possibility. In the process, she accidentally skipped lunch. -
(Maybe text she should Ajax to see if he knows anything since he knows a bit about what bothered her?)
After school, Jessica was dismissed from class early and waited for the bus on a bench outside the school. -
Alya texted her brother again, and from boredom he responded properly.
'well she did say smth about a game and risks? i think smth along the lines of us playing a game for her heart' he typed, cuddled into the blankets on his bed. Alya thought about it as she was walking home from school and it did seem to make sense. Was that why she was being avoided? After all, a game like this was hard to play with two players. One could get attached to the other. -
When she got home, Jessica got a call for her service to stop a man's plan to murder a friend of the client. Jessica nodded, suited up, grabbed the suitcase that held her stake out supplies, climbed out her window and rode her motorcycle to the area.
