Jessica sighed and put down the binoculars and looked at her. "It's more complicated than the points on the board. I realized that the prize costs more than I thought. It's a gamble on my part." Jessica told her before going back to focus.

Alya clutched her arm, holding it so tightly that her nails were digging into her skin. She was mad at Jessica, mad at ajax, and most of all mad at herself.
"I'm going home." She said, taking off into the sky. -
Jessica realeased a breath she had been holding in. Perhaps anger hadn't been the best defence, but she had to use something. When she saw the red sedan pull up, she took out her gun and waited. Once the driver got out of the car, he took out his gun and walked to the door of the victim's apartment. Normally she would shoot his gun hand so that he wouldn't be able to kill the victim, but she wasn't focused. She was angry, panicked, tense, and couldn't focus. Her aim was off just a bit, and when she pulled the trigger, the bullet went top speed, sending a bang into the air as it launched itself at him. Jessica's ears rung painfully and her chest felt like it's inside plummeted to her feet. Her once buzzing mind had gone completely silent, causing the ringing to be even more painful as she watched the man fall to the ground, a bullet in his chest.
-
Alya stopped short as she heard the gunshot. Had Jessica shot him? Or the other way around? Despite being angry at her, Alya couldn't help herself as she sped back to the rooftop. Seeing Jessica, she kneeled next to her. "What's wrong?" She asked, seeing that she was panicked. "What happened?"
-
Jessica could hardly hear the voice through the ringing in her ears. "I aimed for the f---ing hand..." She muttered, staring at the weapon in her hands in horror and allowing it to fall to the floor... or... in this case... roof. Jessica realized what she just admitted to and looked at Ayla in terror. "I bit off more than I could chew... I... I..." She muttered, her senses coming back to her as she began to back away.
-
Alya looked down and saw the scene laid out before her. "...Oh." she said. She turned back to Jessica and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Hey. It's alright, okay? Just breathe."
-
Jessica felt a bit calmer from the girl's understanding. However thinking clearly only made her understand how bad the situation was more. This man had a family, whether he was a good person or not. She did her research. He had a divorced wife and twin daughters, as well as a fiancé, a teenage step son, and a little boy. Four children that will grow up without a father. Because of her. She took a deep breath and, despite the fact she believed it would show weakness, she was weak right now. She collapsed into Ayla's arms and began crying, taking deep breaths between sobs.

*when your halfway through a response and it deletes*
Alya sunk to the ground and held Jessica, saying nothing except for a 'Shhh' or 'It'll be okay' every once in a while. As she tried to calm Jessica's breathing she tried the same with her own. She knew this was bad. Really bad. -
(I’VE SOOOOO BEEN THERE!!!
I’ve written very large paragraphs of responses or stories and they’ve been deleted!!! UGH!!! ITS NERVE WRACKING!!!)
Jessica’s phone dinged, telling her she had a text. She pulled away from Ayla, her hands shaking as she grabbed the phone and checked it.
Client: Good job. Quick, quiet, done. Sure you’re a rookie?
Jessica sighed and rubbed her face. “I came to Metropolis for a challenge... A more cheery playing field. What I just did... I might as well still be in Gotham...” She muttered. -
-
Alya took Jessica’s face in her hands, making her look up into the girl’s blue eyes. “Listen to me. It’ll be okay. “You’ll be okay. We just have to calm down, and think this through. You’ll be fine."
-
Jessica blushed as she looked into her eyes. “Okay...” She sighed, trying to keep her cool. “I’m going to go home and get out of the costume... Meet you at the coffee shop on Second Street?” She asked. She decided that in this circumstance, having the Girl of Steel angry with her would not be a good idea.
-
Alya let out a sigh of relief, and let go of Jessica so that hopefully she wouldn't feel her shaking. "Okay. What time?"
